Stolen truck

Whatever it was, it was gone by the time I got there this morning.

I don't know what will happen with the police or how much they'll work the case. I'm in a county with a population of roughly 4.4 million people so I'd guess it probably isn't at the top of their priority list but I don't know for sure. The deputy that took the report just turns it in with the evidence, its up to a detective to follow up on the investigation and I haven't heard from one yet.

Shared on my FB page. I happen to be in the market for a 99-02 7.3 so I I will keep an eye out on Craig's List and the dealers in the area. If you have any other pics, including interior pics which are usually unique send them. I don't mind looking out for it,I'm am shopping the webs daily for the right one.

Thanks, Jack. I do have interior pictures but I'm not sure where. Things that make it unique are a 4" turbo back MBRP exhaust, 6 position chip with the selector mounted just to the right of the headlight switch, Eclipse AVN726E head unit with upgraded 6x9 speakers, 2 kicker amps under the back seat and a pair of Kicker sub woofers behind the back seat in a box, Di-Procol gauges in a pod by the rearview mirror, includes EGT, 60# boost gauge, and Trans temp (from left to right). I had 8 way captain's chairs, which I'm discovering are hard to find most of the trucks seem to have the split bench, and the Lariat package. Seats were all pristine except for the driver's seat which had a split on the left front and cracking on the armrest, steering wheel had wear on the top 1/3.

I doubt it'll be seen again but if you come across one that meets that description...

You know how hard these trucks are to find and how much people want for them so I know you feel my pain... I'd done a lot of work on this truck to get it the way I wanted it and had no intention of ever letting it go.

I got rear ended in about the year 1990 and it totaled out my car. It was a 72 Plymouth Satelite Sebring. It was one of those cars that was borderline being a collector car, it was very clean but it was a two door but was only a 318 car. I had maybe $2200 in it. The other guys insurance came through with $6000. At the time that seemed fair but like you, I've always wished I had the car back.

Here are a couple of interior pictures that show the head unit and gauge pod. Dash cat wasn't particularly happy with me, this was on our trip to Colorado a few years ago with me, the wife and 14 y/o daughter plus 3 dogs, 2 cats and a hamster. At Christmas. For 2 weeks. In a 29' travel trailer. It was actually a great trip, even if it was a little crowded.

Thanks, that does help. I have been overlooking short bed trucks because I want the 8' bed. I will keep my eyes open for this one though.

I suspect that the LEO will be aware of the theft for a day or two and keep an eye peeled for your truck. But after that, unfortunately it'll be a forgotten matter (to them) unless they just happen to stop someone driving it, or spot in while doing a random plate scan, and run the plates.

I'm not at all trying to be negative, but only realistic. Thieves are on top of my list, next to animal cruelty, as far as scum-bags go. I also feel for ya... We work too hard for what little we have for someone to just walk up and take it. Scumbags.

Don't give up and if you can hold out and wait it could really help with settlement.

We waited 3 months with the Insurance calling each week at the end to settle... the amount we agreed was fair and I had dozens of comps collected while looking for it every night on the Internet.

A couple of weeks after we settled... it was recovered... spent just about all day cleaning it up and we got lucky... a small ding low on the drivers door and a scuffed rear bumper and cracked windshield... plus on recovery, the right rear tire goes flat overnight and this might have made the car not usable?

This is truth. It is much worse in Texas. Half the vehicles I see on the road have paper license plates made with a Zerox copier and they're NOT new cars. 90% of those are Hispanic drivers. I asked one of my buddies at DPS why I never see them pulling a car/truck with paper plates over- just to check their authenticity. He said because the people driving them usually don't have a license. And without a license or even a valid license plate, they are taking the person's word on "who they are" and where they really live. I told him they should immediately take them to jail, to which he replied, "Who's going to pay for it? It costs on average $2300 to book an illegal into jail, tow and impound his car, feed and house him for 3 days. We (DPS) only make money ticketing guys we know will just mail the fine in."

Ain't that the truth... my car was backed into and did a number on the passenger side front fender maybe 20 years ago... it was on a public street.

No plates on the car and driver claimed to have a license or speak English... I could not get law enforcement to do anything or DMV... I did get the VIN from the windshield and thought that would be enough.

One of my friends said there is no money in it and if nobody was hurt and cars are drivable that is the way it is...

He did tell me if I had called in and said I think the driver had been drinking... it would have changed everything.
