Ralph, I find it hard to believe also, but I couldn't budge in trying to stand it up. I was told the flywheel is 175#.

Gordon, Ever hear of ear plugs? :)

Bob, The chipper is reasonably priced, 1500-1800.00. Shipping will eat you up though. Affrodable tractor here in TX has them listed for 1600.00. I believe there is a place in Conn that sells them too. Check Ebay.

I'm in western NC and had to get one from Texas. No Jinma chipper dealers in the southeast. $1699 plus $300 freight.

I hear they are cheaper the closer you get to the west coast because of freight.

Affordable Tractor is a good place to buy. Prompt e-mail responses and follow up. Make sure to buy a Green and yellow version, not the red and yellow.

I'm interested in this chipper as well.

For anybody who has one, do you use any sort of shear pin/slip clutch protection?

Also, do you have photos of the feed roller mechanism? It looks like the support arms on the sides of the hopper move freely and the springs hold pressure on the material as it feeds. Is this correct?

When you feed it a 6" log, do you need to raise the feed roller by hand to get the log started? Any trouble with Jamming?

Thanks, Brent

I use one on my B2630,

- no clutch protection - with the weight of the flywheel, I don't think a piece of 1" steel bar would jam it very fast.

- your description of the feed mechanism sound right on, it is just a toothed cylinder spring loaded and rotating down on the material

- depeding on whether the teeth in the feed cylinder can get a grip and ride up the material , you may need to lift it. In my experience this is not often. I would cut 6" material for firewood, so I am doing more like 3-4" material.

- after a few 100yr old maples, cedars, and misc scrub, never had a jam yet.

- I sawed off the feed lift "hoop" and welded it on upside down so that if I do need to lift the feed roller, I step down on it with my foot - frees up the hands and the springs are quite strong - hard to with one hand, easy with a foot.

Mark - how much would it cost to have Affordable assemble the thing? I want one - the brush pile I have covers about 2 acres right now -- don't know when I'd have time to burn - tough to catch the weather just right with only weekends available.

Mike, I don't know if they do, or at least if your going to pick it up in Houston like I did. It isn't that hard if you use your FEL to lift it. It would have taken me an hour if I would have done that first. You assemble the base, 8 bolts, bolt it and the 3pt arms on, 8 more bolts, the dischrge chute, 4 bolts and the hopper extention which is 4 more bolts. Grease and belt checks is all thats left after that. 2 sockets and a adjustable wrench are the only tools that I recall using.

As far as protection, the chipper is belt drive so I guess that is the protection. Belts slip if nessessary. I do like the idea that the shredder has a splined shaft so it can be removed and stored indoors.

Glad to see you guys moving on up to a Jinma chipper. I've had one 3-4 years now, best investment I ever made.I've chipped 6 inch pine trees without ever skipping a beat. the only trouble is the vines that sometimes grow up the trunk..Small ones sometimes wind around the shaft behind the pulley that drives the belt for the feed drum. But it only takes a few min.to remove them.Original assembly was easy. Just need to pick unit up bolt on base, hopper and chute. I lower it on to a 2x4 base with casters and roll it into a corner of the garage when not needed.
