Chipper Stop The Burn!! (New Jimna Chipper)

How does chipping compare to burning in the overall time it takes? I've got a jinma chipper on order, and I'm hoping it will end up saving me time because I can chip stuff where it falls. Now, I spend a few minutes with a chainsaw, and it will take me hours to get what I've cut onto the burn pile. On burn day it's more hours spent minding the fire.

Do y'all know that mesquite makes the hottest fire that I've ever had the priviliege to cook over? Great honey comes from it also. Anybody there in Texas ever make any BarBQ? :)

fyi--I recently acquired my own Chinese chipper. Red and yellow but as yet not assembled and I don't know if it is a Jinma.

Quicksand, I only have about 8 hours on mine, so I'm not an expert and here is how I see it. Burning took a long time. Sometimes my piles took days to finally go out and I was always having to worry about something else catching fire.

Chipping is only slightly quicker. The nice thing that I see is you can do it whenever and at your own pace. It is slow progress where I'm working but it is woods and brush you couldn't walk through. Yards of chips from an area 10'X30', but again I don't think burning would be much faster and you have to keep the burn pile around a while before you get rid of it.

My main reason for chipping was threefold. 1, burning was too dangerous in the past 2 years, or anytime. 2nd, burning doesn't return much to the earth, chips do. 3rd, There's mice and rats living in those burn piles. I don't need to give them any extra accomedations. :)

Gino, I've heard of BBQ, coffee and bread made from mesquite, but never honey. How is that done? Shipping may be high to HI, but I'll send chips if you'll pay for shipping. They'd work better on a gas grill.

Quicksand: Go buy an extra A-36 belt before the chipper arrives. You will need it. Napa version is 4L380W

I adapted my Jinma chipper to fit the i-match for about $15 without welding. If anyone needs pix, i can take some this weekend.

Please take the pictures, Gordon21. I'm seriously considering buying a Jimna chipper and would like to see what you have done to improve upon, based on what I have read, an already good piece of equipment.

Tommy, I spoke with Jerry yesterday. I will probably be seeing him or you or both of you this weekend. If you have one on the lot Saturday I'll be there, if not then. are you fellas going to be open on Monday? It is a holiday for me. My boss (wife) and I decided we are going to do it, buy the Kimna chipper, that is. I live between Austin and Waco, near Killeen. I am interested in the mods too. Have been reading about them, but haven't seen any pictures yet.

It means you have posted X number of times. I guess 50.

My place is in Bremond, about 40 miles east of Temple. If you'd like to see the chipper in action first I'll be there starting tomorrow. I'll PM you my #. It doesn't really need demo'd but in case you'd like to I'm not too far.
