Store-bought chicken pot pie?

Rox you are making me hungry and I already had dinner ! Kind of like Harv does, little steps or divide it into manageable jobs. I bet JDeereman wouldn't bat an eye at a 100hr service but a little chicken dinner can bring him to his knees !

Oh my god rox. you are talking to a man who can barely boil water and open a can of sardines. what you just wrote is greek to me and i am not kidding. if it can't be microwaved, i am a lost man. i would not dare bring something that i made myself. no one would dare eat it including me.

and for the record, i did not choose chicken pot pie at random. my 3 options were chicken pot pie, chicken a la king or chicken and dumplings. i chose the least problematic of the three (or so i thought).

Well I do see why you brought the chicken pot pie. I don't even know what chicken a la king is, really. I find it amazing really that you only microwave. Can you do you make a BLT sandwich? Really it was totally greek to you? You could not visualize mini the mini chicken pot pies after reading the recipe? Perhaps you can find someone to make the recipe. For the records I would have brought chicken and dumplings as i have an excellent chicken and dumpling recipe which I make at least a couple times a year. In your situation I guess you picked he best out of the 3. If this happens again you might suggest that you bring fried chicken instead of the 3 other chicken choices. That you can buy frozen and heat up. Again good luck with your quest, i bet you do bring very good salads and deserts.

Cooking for folks outside of family is something i will not do. and if it can't be eaten fresh or out of a container, boiled, microwaved or cooked on the outside grill it just doesn't happen.

I do well with anything I can buy pre-made at a grocery store, deli or bakery. outside of that, i am pretty much lost. but yes i can make a blt because i can microwave the bacon. but i have never cooked a whole chicken in my life and i don't intend to start now. that's what those rotisserie chickens at the super market are for. had i known the trouble my chicken pot pies were going to cause i would have asked if i could please bring some of those rotisserie chickens instead.

Hmm...This almost a troll at this point.

A simple step by Step recipe for some awsome sounding mini-pot pies and it gets blown off!

That's not surprising for someone who doesn't do casseroles.:D But chicken (or turkey) a la king is one of my favorite ways to use left over chicken or turkey. You simply chop up the meat in bite size or smaller pieces (boned, of course), make a sauce or gravy with a little flour, a little broth, a little milk, a little butter, some salt & pepper, add a can of mushroom bits & pieces (or chop your own), and a jar of chopped pimentos, add the meat, heat and serve on toast. Delicious.

Of course you can just buy a can of chicken a la king at the supermarket where the soups are, open a can, heat and serve, but it just isn't as good as what I make at home.:)

Not a troll my skeptical friend. please go back and re-read my original post and see what I asked for and why. i believe i was very specific in asking about store- or restaurant-bought products. recipes are wonderful things, but not for a man who doesn't cook. that's why i didn't ask for one and it certainly doesn't make me a troll.

Theo,

This suggestion is similar to the one about cafeterias, but perhaps it might work. There's a HyVee supermarket here that has a "cafeteria" area. It's divided up into Chinese, pizza/pasta and something like "American" food areas. I'd be willing to bet they have chicken pot pie on the "American" menu sometimes, and would probably be willing to make a whole one available, since they also cater.

I can't remember ever seeing a family sized frozen chicken pot pie. The largest I can recall were the Marie Callendar ones, and they were too small for what I imagine you need. I wonder if a normal caterer might consider a one-dish job.
