Storing backhoe attachment for the winter?

Never use a tarp. It can trap moisture. Use a breathable car cover.

Don’t store near a tree. During a wind storm a large tree fell and bent my top hydraulic cylinder rod.

Yes. This is exactly what I am planning to do! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it, it took several changes to finally get what I wanted it to do. Sorry it took so long to comment, but have been unusually busy.

I have a Kubota L3560HSTC with a BH92 backhoe, I always store mine inside the barn on a dolly I made. I prevent "sag" of the out-riggers by hooking them together with a tie-down ratchet strap.View attachment 575517View attachment 575518

Nicely done! I do the ratchet strap thing as well.

I use standard 4'x4' shipping pallets for all my attachments like backhoe, snow blower and heavier stuff like log splitters, snowmobile, SXS etc.... Then move them around my shop with a pallet jack.

Jack was like $200 and pallets are free all over the place where I am.

I used bailing wire last winter to hold up my BH outriggers. Like the idea of a lightweight ratchet strap... got plenty.

I use pallets for my idle implements as well. Works great to move them around and I even stack them with my forks albeit somewhat precariously to save real estate.

I have never owned a backhoe before, I want to take it off for the winter (sub frame mount) .
What is the best position to leave it in for ease of taking it off and putting it back on.
The backhoe in question is a Woods Groundbreaker 7500 on my Kubota L2850.
Thanks and pics of yours stored would help :)

I have a quick (15 min.) disconnect hoe.
I have had it off once in 30 years.
I don't use the TLB often, but when I do, I may need both the hoe and loader functions.

I often have 3pt. hitch needs, and the TLB (with hoe removed) does have a three pt hitch.
It would not be even remotely practical to remove the hoe every time I might need the hitch (maybe 2 or 3 times in a day?).

The answer is simple: Have at least one more tractor!

My tractors are all for play. I do not need a new tractor. I have older tractors in excellent condition for dedicated use.
I probably have a similar amount of total $ tied up in my 3 older tractors as many do in a nice shiny new one, but it is SO convenient to just jump on the one I need for the designated task.
Besides: I find DPF and/or Regen, and complicated electronics to be simply unnerving.

Two of my older tractors have been completely refurbished, and except for body style, actually do look like new.

I like that philosophy! I have been slowly searching for the right deal on another 30-40 hp tractor. My list of needs is simple, 4x4, loader and a bargain!

If you can be patient, the right deal will eventually come to you.
Took me two years (30 years ago) to find the right medium sized TLB.

Sooo, I ask again. Are there any negatives to leaving the backhoe on the 2601 in storage for the winter?

I cannot imagine a problem leaving it on. I have a B21 with backhoe that has never been off the tractor in the 15 years I have owned it. I am thinking about taking it off this year.

The manual suggests putting blocking under the main subframe to enhance stability. If left outside, it suggests covering it with a tarp to protect it.
