Tire chains or tow chains?
chains spring 21 B.jpg

Tow chains it varies,
I usually keep one on the floor of the cab,
if I'm going some were to use a chain I will ofter loop it around the 3 point,
normal storage has some coiled up in the corner of the shop floor,
usually one or two on the trailer,
often one in the box of the pickup.

I cheat. My backhoe has a cab. (no windows though, but don't ask!)

I just clump my 25 foot grade 100 chain on the floor in the rear corner. Always out of my way and easy to get to and always with me. Don't know how I'd attempt to keep it with the tractor. Probably have to make some kind of box or something that's attached to the ROPS.

Hanging on ringshanks in the tractor shed along with binders and come-alongs. Straps are in ammo boxes.
On the tractor, looped over the center hook on top of the bucket so I don't forget it's there.
In the pickup, ammo box.
Tire chains are in a pail with a rag on them sprayed with WD-40 and a lid on the pail.

Galvanized buckets, indoors, keep dry...Also makes it easy move chains around shed or to "work" by hanging bucket on convenient hook on tractor...

Chains on horizonal 2" pipe stood of wall 18" , 3' above floor. Come-a-longs and ratchet straps on horizonal 2x2 angle iron stood off wall 6" about 1' above chains. Additional small ratchet straps and bungees on 2x2 angle iron stood off wall 2" about 1' above come-a-longs. Ropes and cables on hooks above bungees about 6' from floor.
So that I can identify those that jump down, walk away and find a home in other people's stash,I do this to hooks, ends of chain and handles. 2 coats of aluminum spray paint + 1 coat of white paint topped off with 2 coats hot pink fluorescent paint. It wear's off but after 20 years plenty remain's inside links and where there's no abraision. The first 4 or 5 years it glow's in dark. The small amount remaining after 20 years still make's it much easier to find when miss placed during use in the field.
