Have any of you put a straight pipe on in place of your muffler on your yanmar 135/155/165 or similar class tractor? If so, did it make the sound too annoying or did it sound alright? Thanks
My YM2000 muffler 24Hp. is much bigger than my Ford 2000 muffler. Heard people turn the Yanmar forwards and then the Exhaust pipe under the Tractor to the rear axel. No Harm that I can recall. My ford is done that way 48HP. it's gas but is really quiet! No exhaust Fumes Esp. from Diesel smoke in your face either. At one point, the muffler on my Kubota B7000 cracked, fell down and was just hanging from a single bot it had in the front. Man, that little 2 cylinder engine was the most obnoxious thing I ever heard. Granted a straight pipe would still quiet that thing some but still, I wouldn't to be anywhere close to it for any sort of time.
Cat D3, Deere 110 TLB, Kubota BX23 and L3800 and RTV900 with restored 1948 Deere M, 1949 Farmall Cub, 1953 Ford Jubliee and 1957 Ford 740 Row Crop, Craftsman Mower, Deere 350C Dozer 50 assorted vehicles from 1905 to 2006
The old Deere has a straight pipe… I hate it but my teen nephew loves it… and even with shooters hearing protection it is LOUD…
Org. pointed upwards. Prev. owner changed it. Your 15Hp. can't be very noisy compared to 48Hp.. Super small muffler and Tail pipe. 4Cyl.. Just a straight pipe! kids do that to make the auto exhuast super loud. Been doing that forever!!
One of the thing I like about my 226d is the exhaust is quiet. The factory muffler is designed to either be bolted upright or in a horizontal configuration. I would not want a straight pipe for myself.
When I bought the Org.YM2000 I would get Oily Carbon Bombed!! Learned quick not to wipe them off because they would smear! Gas soaked shop rag was about the only way to get them off the Tractor. Thought about turning the exhaust forwards then but after removing the muffler a couple times and cleaning it I finally made it Quit! No oil use or excessive smoke. I plugged the Inlet/outlet filling the muffler with gas to loosened up and removed the build up. Worked great so I solved that problem. The Yanmar is basically my lawn mower so I'm Always moving on it. No FEL. used a 3Pt. rear scoop and really never considered it. 2wd and the Front End and Axle Assembly just wasn't made for one IMO.. 4wd which is no need for in Ga. I would of considered it but still the lack of Hp.. I knew it wasn't going to do much. Light lifting! Yrs. Ago a FEL on the 5103 so I knew it's capability. I ended up with the 1963 Ford 2000 with a FEL. which just The Eng. ran and that was about it! Had to split it! I'm glad I had to now. 2 stage clutch and it's nice having that option! Pretty much same size and Hp. but the JD. was Diesel and the exhaust fumes was apparent on it! It was only literally a couple Yrs. old.. Exhaust was factory Horizontal. I see no problem Extending the Exhaust on the 165. My guess you will like it and the reduced noise level. No Diesel smoke blowing back on you either. JMO.... Using the FM. on the YM2000 I weighted the front down with a lead. Lift the FM. would your doing wheelies!!
