Strange Machine

Even if that image is fake, this isn't. It is a Terex walking excavator. I remember seeing it on TLC's Mega Machines. It walked up a very steep slope. That is one machine I don't think I would want to use. If I made a mistake I'd be doing somer-saults down the hill. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yea those walking excavators are pretty cool, i wish i could get an interior shot of all the controls.

I think that I have seen that before in a movie. (Wild Wild West)

rfawkes,
Maybe you could post the link where you found it. That may get the ball rolling on identifying it. It looks like it came from some third world or communist block country. I only say that because they really make some strange equipment around the world. I've looked around for a while, but found nothing close to it.

Looking at the photo closely I think it's a very good photo shop. If you notice, it is an overcast day and nothing else is casting a shadow but the machine. Look at the shadow on the tire, the light source would be directly above the tire, but the shadow on the cab is at an angle. It is a cool photo but I don't think the shadows lie. But then again I can be wrong ?????

I had considered the shadows as a factor in my determination as well and a flash on the camera that took the pic would would eliminate the shadow on the wheel.I do not think that the pic is a fake.As the poster above observed, many third world countries might consider that machine to be cutting edge technology at some point in their evolution and that could have been their excavator before they figured out how to build a turntable and a house that rotates.
I do not think that scenerio is the correct answer though, that machine was purpose built and I want to know, for what?? RonG

JayC -
Where did you get the cool icon (little guy with the stick and the "X")?

I seen it used on another forum. I loved it when I saw it. I have to laugh at it everytime I see it.

I acutally think this may be real. Look at the rust patterns and such - you would need a *lot* of spare time to cob this up. Looks like an eastern european location as the oversize phone-booth strucutre in the rear is a power distribution biulding. Maybe a mega-trencher? I'd love to see the operator station if this actually does exist.
