One fellow I knew fired one shot, dropped the deer and when they walked up to check the kill there was a 2nd deer that was also down.
They were perfectly lined up such that the 2nd was masked by the first.

The shooter was using hard point as he was licensed taxidermist on contract to provide some gov't agency with mounted specimens and hard point so as not to spoil the hides.
He shot the buck but the doe was 2nd victim.
There were also witnesseses to back up that event, people that I knew.
He was licensed to shoot out of season so that the specimens would be prime.
Being out of season the deer were (as hunters know) not wary of man yet.

The obvious thing that happened to the deer is someone with a silencer shot them. the deer would not run because they did not know where to run. There, the mystery is salved. :cool2: Ed

Camping in the mountains near a creek. Put beer in the water to keep it cool. I found some people where they were not just minutes before. They came out of the creek. The creek was at it starting point coming out of the rocks. I asked them were they came from and they told me out of the creek. More questions and it turned out about 1/4 mile back in the woods, the creek went under ground. They took me up there and I too followed the creek with them and it went under ground. Then the scary part. We held our breath and jumped in and went underwater under ground knowing I could not swim back. Short ride in the water, came to a 10 foot drop off in a cavern. Light was getting in from cracks in the rocks above us. Got out of the water and hiked down the drop off, got back in the water and rode it for a while. Came to a rock overhead in the water and we ducked and popped out where the adventure began.

Yike! Im pretty sure i could be talked into jumping into a creek that goes underground.

I have very large Ponderosa pine on the property and for some reason, a few have the died at the top. I think it might be porcupines. Anyhow, many years ago during a storm the dead top of one of these trees was struck by a bolt of lightning and caught on fire. I watched the top burn for a couple hours before deciding to fell the tree and put out the fire. Kind of upsetting because it was a nice tree but I didn't want it to start a wildfire.
