Strapping it Down!

I can only imagine! I'll never have the need for such a trailer/towing rig, but boy, would I like to have it!

i used to like my bumperpulls fine enough.. when I got my GN.. I immediately hated pulling bumperpull...

turn radius on my f450 and a 30' GN is less than when pulling a 16' BP go figure..

Good advice on the straps, will line them next time. The tractor was well centered as I noticed the wheel wells were uneven at first ( close to the rear tire of the trailer, not so close on the front) , and the tongue dipped a good 4 inches. I couldn't back it up as the backhoe would not clear the end of the trailer. All in all, it hauled well with no swaying. I truly think that trailer could have flipped, and the tractor would have remained attached and in place. It was a productive day, and very little seat pinching, if you know what I mean :)

An excavator hit an overpass, causing the trailer tongue to break, or vice-versa.

But this photo caught my attention:

I often see dozers and excavators tied to the tracks. This has never looked safe to me, but I see it a lot.

Those D-rings are rated for 10,000 lb each and are secured with grade 8 bolts. They are rated for way more than my tractor.

Sorry but I will not rely on two bolts to secure something too many bad bolts and hardware out there with forged paper work, I go around the axles and ROPS.

Never had any bad bolts here. My D-rings and the grade 8 bolts are USA made. Bought from local fastener company that sells both USA and China hardware.
I'd never chain around the ROPS. I have chained around axles but only to bring it home at purchase. No matter what I post, someone will not agree with my methods.

I liked your use of the tie downs on your brush guard. However you have a possible weak link. In the photo there appears to be only two bolts holding the brush guard on the frame. You may want to check these for strength or wear as they are in shear tension when chained up. Add addition bolts to tie the brush gard connection to the tractor may be a prudent precaution

OOPs - yep I missed that. However if you get time pull one and check for side wear. On my Bobcat Ct 235 I have the same bolts, and found one missing the other day - probably shear from vibration - two others were loose. Otherwise I appreciate your idea. Mind If I copy it.

Sorry
Thanks - Keith
