I owned several robi trimmers b-4 buying the husky & maruyama . I have cut alot of grass with these trimmers with no motor problems & no line feed problems. I can't stand to be out cutting with a trimmer & bump the head for the line to feed & the line don't feed ( tangled up inside the head) That was a constant problem with ryobi. Stihl makes a good trimmer also, you just have to buy them from a dealer . I purchased off the net.

I had a little problem with the line on my new Stihl yesterday for the first time. Three times in 2 hours, both lines broke off right where they come out of the head. So each time, I had to open it up to get more line fed out. I think it was primarily just due to heat because I was running it faster and working it harder than I have before, but perhaps also due to quite a bit of dirt build up and the fact that I'm getting near the end of that line. Until yesterday, it's been feeding out just fine.

Just my experience but there is no other trimmer like a STIHL!

I have been running my fs85 all day and that machine is AWESOME to say the least!

I would recommend one to ANYONE!!

I wish I could second that. Last year I bought a Stihl FS55-RC, one model below the heralded FS-80. Worked beautifully all last year. Started this year on this first pull (used Stabil over winter). Worked great doing my lawn for the first two times this year. Take it to my parents to trim, 3/4's done, it dies like I hit the kill switch. Won't restart. Take it to the dealer under warranty, works for them. Get it home, starts right up, works 10 minutes, dies, won't restart. Take it back to the dealer. Can't find anything wrong. Get it home, works fine. Take it to parents, it won't start. Final trip to dealer, they trim all around their business, burn a tank of gas. Get it home after 5 minutes, dies. Go to Home Depot (I hate HD btw) and I buy an Echo.

Ouch, don't say that about your Stihl 'cause that's the model I just bought this Spring. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I sure hope I don't have that kind of luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have 2 Stihl FS106 trimmers and a Stihl FS85. I bought these trimmers used from our county highway department. They have likely had thousands of hours on them and they still start great, run great, and talk about power! The 106 models have something like 4 or 5 hp! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif With only heavy string, not having to put the blade on, I can cut down fair sized saplings along with any grass. Being that mine were used and abused for years before I got them, and I've used them for years, I couldn't imagine buying anything else but Stihl. I'm sure there are other great brands, but when something works so well, why experiment?! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh yeah, I tried one 4 cycle trimmer and was much less than impressed. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

No thanks!
I already have a powerKraft lawn tractor.
One MTD lemon is more than enough for me.
