Also I think it might but froze in 4WD? When i tried pull starting it, it just felt like it was pulling the 4WD also. What are the chances of it breaking free after I get the darn thing started? Like I said before I only paid a few hundred bucks for the tractor and I f I can get a low budget fix I think I might make out with a great little tractor for well under $1000.

Can you jack up tractor on 4 jack stands. By disengaging the 4 wheel drive and turning the rear wheel manually you should be able to prove or disprove your "4 WD" stuck theory. Ford 1700 is not a big tractor, and I know, I can raise 4 wheels and support the whole tractor on 4 jack stands with the help of few 2x6's if needed in nothing flat, it's worth a try.

I was thinking. You may have air in the fuel system. You may want to crack the injector lines and bleed the them while pulling, then see if it will start. That could be why it "wanted to" but didn't start. Could also be gunked up. Have you put on a new fuel filter? Then add a qt or more of diesel fuel conditioner like PowerService, Howes or similar. (Hint, they all use 50% to 97% mineral spirits as it cleans the gunk but doesn't dissolve seals).

I have not changed I did check the fuel filter yet. I did check the injector sytem and ecrything was working well. I should have a anwser soon on where there or not it will start also I will send a few pictures.

I'd suggest that once you get the starter back to try and fire it up and drive it around the field a few times and the clutch will probably free up. I did this with a car a few years ago the had a stuck clutch. I got it out in the street and started it in gear then drove it a few miles shifting without using the clutch. By varying the speed up and down while driving the resistance against the clutch plate broke it loose.

I think the best way is to start the tractor in nuetral. The clutch switch is on the linkage so down is ok even if the clutch isn't letting loose. Concentrate on getting the engine running, where it will start and then go to the clutch.
Once you have it where it will start easily, I would try pull starting it in a high gear with the ignition off and the clutch in. If that doesn't work, load the tractor while running and increase the load with the clutch pedal down till it breaks the disc loose.
Make sure the clutch linkage is actually engaging and disengaging the clutch and all is free in that area before trying to break the disc loose.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT IN A CONFINED SPACE AND HAVE A WAY OUT AT ALL TIMES, EVEN TO A POINT OF BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRACTOR TILL IT RUNS OUT OF FUEL IF NEED BE. A TRACTOR THAT WON'T STOP IS NOT A SAFE THING SO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL. CONSIDER ALL OPTIONS AND CONSEQUENCES BEFORE STARTING ANY METHOD OF BREAKING THE DISC LOOSE.
We don't need your widow posting that you ran over yourself trying to get on or off the tractor while running.
If this were mine, I would hook a truck to the front with a chain and another one to the rear of it from the drawbar. Pullstart it with the one in front and then load it with the pedal depressed by slowing down the vehicle in back till the clutch broke free.
I don't think I would try spinning the pto, as there is too much chance of breaking something back there. Parts are hard to find and not cheap when you find them should you break something.

I have a shibaura S700 4WD and one part of the clutch is stuck. When I got the tractor the guy told me he used it and then left it for a while then came back a few months later and could not get it started and then it sat for about a year. I have been spraying PB blaster on it and one side came loose and the other is still stuck. It will not pull start because the clutch is stuck. I sent the starter off to get a rebuild so hoping the new starter will have enough power to start it up. When I tried pull starting it really wanted to start but would choke out because of the clutch. Does anyone have any ideas or tricks besides breaking it apart?

Does your tractor have a large oval rubber plug on the left side of the bell housing? If it does, remove the plug, block the pedal down and drive a sharpened putty knife between the disc and flywheel or pressure plate face, which ever it is stuck to.

Excellent if there. My JD stuck bad once and I didnt think of that. It has a very rigid strong front bumper weight setup, so I just put it in the lowest gear that would stall it at power and drove it dead on into a good heathy 14" tree at about 2MPH with hand on the kill switch. FIXED.

Actually that would have been my first reply if it weren't for not knowing what size bumper and tree he had available. I figured if he had a truck on either end of him pulling and pushing it would do the same thing and the one in front would keep him from going over should it not break traction.

ok so I got the new starter on, it fired up!!!!!! But,,,, the PTO seams to be stuck on? Not really sure what is going on. Also the Flywheel makes some strange noised while the engine is runing. I think it is all the old rust that broke off from being stuck for so long. any ideas about the PTO being stuck remedies?
