Traction stuck in the mud

In NW Indiana , My JD 345 gets stuck when mowing on rural property.
I have a Utility Tractor, rescue vehicle, but it amazes me how little it takes to stick the so called garden tractor, which is really a lawn mower.
I felt like the Village Idiot, as the wheels would coat with mud and the deck would dig in and end of traction..........
I saw my neighbor , for the first time since last fall. I told him I was stuck.
He was a bit sheepish and told me his brand new 0 turn mower was stuck as well.
Come to find out, all my neighbors with 0 turn and garden tractors were stuck!!
I have come to the conclusion any water... you are stuck!
Any Ideas??

I wounder if any one has put water in the drive tires on any of these? I fig that if my big behind balast is in the seat it should not get stuck but my tires spin alot also.

You could get bar tires for it, but there is a limit that beyond it, you will get stuck.

The "wait till it dries" enough to not get stuck is highly recommended. Tall grass is better than mowed lawn with ruts in the mud, IMO.

Just "being wet" won't get you stuck. Being swampy and squishy mud will more likely do it.

I agree with beenthere, much easier to wait until it dries out some, the ruts you make are alot more trouble to fix in a lawn.

Most lawns like Fescue can benefit by allowing to grow tall ever so often as it allows the roots to get bigger and deeper. A couple of mowings when it dries out and you should be in good shape.

Put chains on. I run chains all year with 2 wheel drive 420, 455, 495 and 749. Mowing, blading, snowblowing or whatever else. If it's a little wet it doesn't matter. I doesn't hurt the lawn at all unless you start spinning the tires, but it takes a lot to spin then. If that happens, in a couple weeks it grows over. It doesn't ride as smooth down the road, but I ran them for 25 years already without a problem. I would not need to most of the time but when it's wet they dig in and don't leave a mess like I thought the would so I just leave them on. But my lawn isn't a manicured lawn like you see in the magazines, but it's a fairly decent lawn.

As my neighbor does..lift deck to next higher setting,full throttle go like heck.

I use weed whacker until ground firmer.

I use a pair of old car tire chains I cut down on the rear tires. Also mow at 4 inches vs. the usual 3 and a half. Do have to be careful when it is really wet to not spin the tires as the chains can really move some dirt.
