thank the good Lord they got ya out almost pain free. You might look into water weight in the tires, not sure how to do it but I know ya use salts to keep it from freezing and ya might look into some serious chains for the tires. I once had a plow truck stuck in a side culvert where water was running under ice. couldnt get it out, got frozen in and waited for a thaw to get me out with a bulldozer.

I've never heard of one without a locking differential. Where did you buy that 224/

Look at your owners manual first. It should show the levers. It is located on the right side along your seat. Mine says engaged/disengaged on the handle knob and which direction to move to do so. If you follow the lever to where it enters the trans it will be a cam(eccentric) that pushes in on a rod which internally locks the two wheels. This is a diff lock.

The "future use" lever is the Diff lock, feels like it does nothing, but pushing it down will lock the rear wheels together, makes it hard to steer so be careful with it.

the dif loc is the lever just to the right as said, it is LONG and the lever moves very freely (or should) and then it meets a springy type resistance, DON'T FORCE IT, just hold it with a slight amount of pressure forward and there is a plate that has holes in it the plate has a matching plate with PINS in it the pins have to align to engauge, holding the lever in will lock it inplace when they align and ONLY when they align. also you need to HOLD it in once engauged or else when you turn it will come out by spring pressure back to off or disengauge spot.

I looked over my manual, and it is the same diagram as the one Greg linked too, only it is not my configuration, sigh..... So manual is no help. I took a picture for all to see.

Man do I feel stupid,,, I have had this tractor since Aug and I still don't know how to properly operate it. All please excuse my ignorance. I really wish I had bought my tractor from a local dealer so he could have given me the low down. I don't know how I would have made it without this forum.

Don't beat yourself up, I learn something new almost every time I use my tractors! Then again, I sell candy to kids so that doesn't take much brainpower! These are fun toys that make life much easier for the operators, but it takes a lot of time to learn all the little tricks on how to operate them.
