I always say "If you aren't getting stuck your not doing anything"

Than again if your getting stuck than your not going to do anything...but after getting unstuck you got another project. ;)

I guess I'm looking at it this way. Maybe you might get stuck once a year.............spread the initial cost of $200 over 10 to 15 years. Its worth a 20 dollar bill to me not to have to slog around in the mud or go ask for help.

Okay, you really got me interested now.

Question...can this device be attach lets say small 4x4 pickup also, plus uses for another getting unstuck?

No, it really will not work with cars or trucks. Its going to be designed for SCUTS and CUTS tractors, although I'm sure someone will come up with other applications.

I'm just in the design stage right now and working out the design for a proto-type. Then it will have to go into field testing to see what the bugs are. Then that design will have to be modified to get a marketable product. Like anything else tho there are always ways to improve it.I'll will be talking to a friend of mine this weekend that has a machine shop with water saw and will be doing the fabrication for me.

Might be useful on a 2wd, but has anyone gotten stuck to the point where a BH and front loader couldn't get you out???!!? If you don't have a BH, then maybe it could come in handy. :D

Count me as a customer, if your gizmo works, and I have a friend who would be interested, we have taken turns helping each other out .Its O.K. to help a friend, but it takes a hour or two out of his day and mine. I usually take my loader off when I do field work, so its not there to get me out. One question,
if brushogging or haying, would it be necessary to detach and move the equipment in order to use your invention ?

UncleBuck, although I have not built the proto-type for testing yet, I do not anticipate that any implements would have to be removed to use it.

thingy, I'll post a pic of the proto-type after my patent goes thru. It may be awhile............so be patient.

My FIL had a set of small hubs that attached to the drive axle of his truck with the idea of using them as a capstan. He gave them to me to use but its easier to hook a chain to a crosslink on the tire chains then a longer rope/strap to a tree. Of course if the hoe or skidding winch are installed then no problem....

Hrrrmmm.... Yes, I have gotten a 2wd TLB stuck with a capital S.

Dirt,
If you need a tester, I would be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and provide you with timely feedback, suggestions and whatnot.

You don't have to keep the lid on until after patent is issued. In fact, you have 1 year from the date of first public disclosure or sale to apply for the patent. It's best to apply for the patent before public disclosure. Disclosure under NDA is not considered public and won't affect the patent.

john_bud, thanks for the offer for testing and the patent info. If I need any field testing done I'm sure there will be enough volunteers right here on TBN.

Sincerely,
Dirt

Dirtworksequip,

Have you done or have you had a patent search done? Tractors have been around for a long time and there are hundreds upon hundreds of tractor related patents out there. I would check to see that similar items are not already in the known literature if you haven't already.

Harvster, no I have not had the patent search done yet. I'm going to have my friend make me a proto-type and then put it to use on my JD3520 and see if it is really going to work before I go thru the time and expense of a patent search. Maybe somewhere in times past someone had a similar idea or product? I don't know yet. I figure even if they do I can have one fabricated for my personal use. Thanks for the input.
Sincerely,
Dirt

Sounds like your working on a good idea, just most of the guys here already have a plan B, maybe post on Yuppie.com (just a joke) to sell to all them folks who bought Hummers and never take them off road (they need something else to spend their money on).

I would be interested in something like that. I'm usually stuck 5 or 6 times a years. Usually only over 2 days though. I have an area of land that the bottom can drop out on you. 4x4 and diff lock don't do anything other thing to dig nice deep holes - at least until you are on the chassis which usually happens first thing. FEL doesn't do anything other than to push more mud/muck up in front of and under the tractor. No trees big enough and the truck doesn't always have enough traction to do it. I would be willing to spend $200 to get me out easily and quickly. Would make the bush hoggin' go a lot quicker.

I feel like we're playing 20 questions but will not get to know the answer.

The only thing you guys haven't mentioned so far is the concept of a big air bag under the tractor that is inflated when stuck and lifts the tractor up and out of whatever it's stuck in. I think someone sells those for the off-road market or the flat tire market or something like that.

Winches need a tree or ground anchor of some type to work in all conditions, so I figure it is not some kind of hook onto something and pull yourself out item.

Ford 8Ns had a device you could attach to the tractor and use the 3 point to lift the entire tractor off the ground, but it would get in the way of using implements.

So, Dirt, would you need to remove a mid mounted implement (like a mower) to use this thing? I know you said you wouldn't have to remove implements to use it, but did that include a MMM?
