'Stuff' Growing Next To Your House/Buildings

If I had known 40 years ago what I know now, I could have saved myself several thousand dollars in tree trimming and tree removal. A six foot Cottonwood growing next to the house eventually turns into an 80 foot giant that threatens to crush your and your neighbor's house. Also, Redbuds don't live very long, Ash trees don't either and grass doesn't grow well under big Maples...and Mulberry trees are MESSY! Squirrels get your Pecans, pears and apples.

I have seen a lot of nice places messed up by trees that were not properly maintained and allowed to grow too close to buildings. People do not realize the damage until it is done.

I do not know why people let their building get so far out of hand, it is sure a whole lot easier to deal with them earlier than later

From personal experience I can attest that is easier said than done too often.

My place is on a slab, and had 1" blue foam underneath for insulation... the mice destroyed it. I would lay in bed at might listening to them gnawing on it, and finally ripped it all out.

How does one go about removing foam insulation from UNDER the concrete slab?

I would say by having the foam on top of the concrete with a subfloor on top of the foam. If it was under the concrete a simple galvanized flashing all around the house would keep the mice out. If it was under the concrete you wouldn't be able to hear the mice....maybe!
