Yes, I think cold rolled. I am not really savvy on all of the different types of steel (guess I should be).

Just some pix of the weekend welding. Going slow so I don't make a mistake. Added some gussets to the mounting plate for rigidity but did not get pix of those. Today motor mount and trying to get it all to fit together.

Oh, cut a hole with my plasma cutter. 1st one. Not so bad...

Oh, got my wheel from the machine shop.

On your print in post #1, the hole pairs are every 60 degrees (although on 3 different radii). In your picture of the machined wheel, that even spacing appears to have been abandoned.

Edit- forgot to mention that the version on the print seemed to have some logic in the progression of tooth location from the blade center, probably related to direction of rotation too. That seems to have been abandoned on the actual part as well.

We added additional set of teeth as the wheel got bigger. In consulting With Green Teeth we put teeth at the same Radius (except one set is straight and one set is bent) 90 degrees apart. We then set two sets of teeth 30 degrees for and aft of the angled teeth at reduced Radius.

Good eye...

IT IS DONE... Well, kinda done, needs paint, a bit of touch up welding, need to cut the shaft up but in principal IT IS DONE...

And....

It works. I am completely and utterly amazed at myself. It friggin works. And it works good. I have to say this system was nothing but angst for me, not having any clear plan to go off of.

The truth, of course, will be in the long haul. But initially I put an 15" cherry and a 12" apple under the level of my mower, each took about 5 minutes max....

Problems. I probably should have made the cutter further out from the tractor. It is hard to see the wheel. I am ending up leaning out of the cab and looking under the device.

As I have only 10 minutes of actual operation, I am sure I will develop a system. Seeing forward close to the tractor has been a small issue with the power trac. Not sure how a bobcat is to see out of....

Anyway, My wife shot some video, but it was from a distance and not so good. Maybe tomorrow I will put a camera in the grass and see what I get.

Looks good! Would love to see a video. I'm curious how much loading effects hydro motor. 800 rpm is moving!

I like the plane of the wheel. If it fails it will fail in a safe direction. Are you going to trim the shaft off the front?
