It is a 4000 series from 1976 given the serial number and the seat design. I'm pretty foggy on the specifics as I've been away from there for decades now. It looks like the 3-point linkage can be added and you'll be in business. The backhoe hydraulic supply and return lines have been joined and now hang a bit low.
Although tractordata, TractorData.com Ford 4000 tractor information only list the 4000 series up to 1975 I think you are correct Opti-Mist, or close enough. I've removed the old backhoe assembly and currently in the process of fitting up the 3-point linkage. I have also removed the PTO cover to confirm there is a shaft in there so I'm in business. Unfortunately I removed the bolts that hold the cover and oil seal onto the shaft and lost some oil. Does and one know how to top up the level in there or does it fill from the differential oil?
Also, does anyone have any links to a service manual? The hydraulic oil is very dirty and needs changing and I wouldn't mind doing the gearbox and diff while i'm at it.
Thanks again guys. You rock :trophy:
