A month or so ago, I passed one of our trucks sitting beside the highway, about 100 yards from the fueling station. Even though "DIESEL ONLY" was all over the tank and filling tube, one of the guys put 30 gallons of gasoline in it.
that reminds me, a few weeks ago a freind went to use my FIL's Kubota B7510 (with a 60" MMM) to mow the back pasture area and noticed that the tank was empty, he called and asked what gas went in the mower, my FIL thought he was talking about the Cub Cadet rider which takes gas, so he said gas, said friend went and dumped 5 gallons of gas in and went to start the tractor, fortunately the key had been left on and the battery was dead. he realized what he had done and called me. 1hr and a new fuel filter later, the system was cleaned and it is working fine. he was very apologetic and all, he even went and bought 5 gals of diesel to refill the tractor.

as my FIL said "we got lucky that time"

Sorry again if it is stupid. The reason I asked I hate the plastic gas containers and would rather use the metal can with funnel attached. If I have to I will paint the two new can I bought for my tractor.
You are not limited to storing it in just 5 gallon containers.

Yes and No... :D

As I've stated before, if someone puts MY gas in something wrong...then that was without my knowledge. To bad for them.

If I put it in something wrong, I'll never tell anyone. :D

I know the yellow fuel cans are for diesel, but why are all the diesel pumps color coded green? The same for the fuel cap in my diesel pick-up truck? Seems like the yellow cans are the odd man out- they should be green.

I solved the diesel can dilemma by going to this.

Brown,

I like your set up.
How much do you figure you save in taxes per drum of off road? Do you pick it up at the supplier or do they deliver it for you? And if they deliver, how much is the minimun you can buy and what is the delivery charge?

1*Thanks.
I should have set it up 4 years ago when I first got my BX23.
2*They delivered 60 gallon 2 or 3 weeks ago for $4.02 per gallon.
0n road at the time was $4.70 a gallon.
I saved exactly $40.80 on the drum of fuel.
3*They deliver it to me.
4*They will stop by and fill up the 30 gallon drum anytime they are already in the area making other deliveries or whenever they happen to be going right past my place.
There is no delivery charge.

Color is safer but at least label them. I use the colored electrical tape on handle too. Also try to use marker and or a tag. I like the date tag idea. Most everything has a shelf life and better to use it accordingly.

Don't know why nozzles at fuel stations are green sometimes. Some are yellow. A lot are black nozzles. I guess its more a brand of nozzle and/or fueling station brand color.
