I'm a physician and work at several centers owned by our group and an Orthopedic Hospital owned separately.

Every year we must undergo 'safety training' which consists of 8hours of video viewing, watching actors portray ridiculous situations.

I have to watch the same **** videos TWICE, once for my group's centers and once for the Hospital. JCAHO refuses to accept the cross check. And to make matters worse, the system has multiple quizzes throughout the video in order to proceed, so I can't just put it on in the background and ignore it. I sit at the exact same computer and answer the exact same questions online. But the access to the quiz is from different email links, thereby checking the ******* box of some ignoramous out there who can justify his existence.

Same started this year here... countless hours sitting in front of a monitor...

Hr makes us watch harassment videos every year. Every year we crack up laughing in them and the director of hr gives me the look. Sad thing is I’m a boss and there’s a good chance the most immature. I have offered to make the next round of sensitivity training movies and they shoot me down every time

AC condenser failed in the middle of a heatwave. Local HVAC outfit replaced. Told me the "Electrical inspector" would be contacting me so he could inspect the job. After some missed connections due to the mush-mouth leaving incomprensible messages on the machine he finally shows up. Walks around to the back patio looks at Compressor. Says OK and leaves. Wasn't dthere over 30 seconds. He did take the time to explain that he has to do whose inspections after a certain number of permits are filed. I wonder how much I paid for that service, the bill (high) didn't itemize that.

We have to endure the same system but I have found that by dragging the button on the playline you can get to the end in a few seconds, we get to do it alone when we have free time.
I hope IT never find out that we do this, actually I hope those that initiate these videos never find out we do this as I doubt IT care.

Had similar in Thurston County... but the HVAC contractor has a good rapport with the inspector... so it is just a formality.

I paid for roof permit and my city did a drive-by and mailed the final... never got out of the car or up on the roof... I was there and know the job was done right...

Just think of people believing a permit is proof of a proper job.

I worked in a big manuf. plant ONCE.. I was hire to streamline injection pump production.
They were 3000 units behind schedule [back orders]
1st day I "watched", 2nd day I went into action.. The workers were bumping into each other, trying to get parts cleaned-up..
The machines they NEEDED to use were in the wrong order, so you had 1 guy side-stepping the other, trying to get to a machine..
The BOSS comes around & I tell him about this.. He says, "I'll call Maintenance.."
No need, I'll just move this here & this over there.. wont take 5 minutes.. NOPE.. GOTTA call maintenance.. the BOSS walks off.
I waited for 30 minutes & nobody showed up.. & I moved the machines & we went to work..
2 days later !!! "Maintenance" shows up & asks where I want the machines moved to.. lol
I got my asss reamed for that.. BUT after THAT, I was "the go-to guy" for getting things done & taking the heat..
I grew up in a heavy union area, always striking, that finally succeeded in shuting down their factory, and everyone ended up unemployed, still *%/÷ing about how it was the companies fault.

To this day i dislike unions, i just saw them do more harm than good. They had their place once upon a time.

Here's a genius one for you. "All hand injuries can be prevented by wearing appropriate gloves at ALL TIMES." This is a good one when you are trying to start some M4 button head screws through a guard or cover somewhere. Then they took all the Stanley knives and razor blade scrapers away and gave us the stupid self retracting knives with round tip blades and get this...plastic razor blades!

Wonder if we work for the same company ;) Have the stupid retracting knives that are more awkward to use. They don't have the round tips though. We went with a rotary sticker remover to get rid of the scraper blades with razor blades

Had a butt chewing from our regional manager, had to remove all neoprene gloves from all work trucks and the shop due to a tater head driver wearing them for "protection" and getting a broken finger in the process. This butt chewing was followed by a conference call with the safety director and the big squeeze himself.

My favorite discussion recently about preventing hand injuries. A mechanic had his hand broke while using a drill press and wearing gloves. Message from the safety director said we are not to wear gloves around rotating equipment such as drill presses due to the chance of the glove getting caught.

The next topic: we are supposed to wear gloves at all times or face the wrath of a write up and need to use the proper gloves for the job :banghead::banghead:

So if neoprene gloves are removed from the equipment trucks and bens then what do you all wear for keeping chemicals such as cleaning agents and lubricants of your hands ?

Got me on that one. All I hear is refer to the glove chart  guess I'll be changing oil bare handed now. Since the next complaint will be the money spent replacing regular work gloves after every oil change :p
