The shanks are removable, so I'm sure when he needs to, he can have any number he needs for the application. I think his JD 5520 is about 90hp, which should pull pretty good in his soil.

It will make her grunt when I hit those spots of red clay. The removable shanks are a plus

I'm betting the tool is a bit under built. More of a heavy duty cultivator than a subsoiler. Think of the power needed to pull even one tine through heavy ground.
Deep subsoilers are usually limited to a single tine for many reasons.

But the nice thing about being a pessimist, is that one is left open to be pleasantly surprised! ;-)

I think your subsoiler is solid and will work well in your soil.:thumbsup: However, you can make it beefier lookin' by painting it RED.:D How much does it weigh?

Thanks Brandi ... I think red paint will add 25 lbs!!!! I've not weighed it ... cant be much more than 275-300 lbs.

For Brandi "Mahindra" ... or "Red Beast" ... Any I sell I'll just custom paint and add any sticker I have to ... BTW neighbor bought my root grapple

Uh.........Big RED Beast. You put a Mahindra decal on it and it will grow 100 pounds.:cool:
