The screen likes to bow, so I used three vise grips, two clamps and two "U" bolts to hold it all together. I was beginning to run out of tools!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

The top is half inch pipe, the post is one inch. I'm lining up the top with the screen, which brings me way off center from the post. This leaves a huge hole which I need to fill in.

A 5/16 bolt fit in there pretty good.

Then I welded it all up. This shows the weld still covered in slag. I'll grind it pretty later on.

I was planning on only welding about every fourth or fifth wire on the screen, but once I got started, I just did them all.

( To make the trailer multi-functional, I wanted the sides to be removable. I went with inch and a quarter pipe for brackets with one inch pipe sliding into it. That gives me a nice fit.

Eddie -

That's a great idea! I have an old trailer (attachment) that I put a new wood deck on - I made all the sides out of 1/2 plywood - left / right sides are fixed - front and back are removable.

I also made the sides stackable / in two parts - so I can have "low sides" for easy shovelling of dirt etc - and "high sides" for hauling wood / leaves / debris etc.

There's rectangular slots in the the frame - so I cut 3/4" pine just wide enough to fit the slots - and this hold the vertical uprights of the sides - but I was never satisfied with the strength / stability - especially if I'm filling a load of cordwood.

Now I'm I think I'm going to get me some pipe & redo all the sides. I will try to keep the "multi-level concept" & have two sets of "stacking" sides / ends for different heights...I'll probably keep the wood siding though - just bolt through the pipe.

Thanks for the great ideas! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I just love TBN!

Dan

Even better! I'll keep that in mind! Thanks!

I had some time to experiment with morter on my entrance sign the other day and decided to give my trailer a try.

I took off the sides and loaded on several sacks of morter. The yellow buckets are full of water. The tools are lying loose on the floor.

The 1 1/4 inch pipe that holds on the sides also holds on my cement mixer. I forsee projects that I will want the mixer and my generator at.

Here's a closer look at the mixer. It slides over a one and a quarter sized pipe on the stand it came with, so I just did the same thing on the back.

I have two places it could go. Left or Right.

I was a little worried about the weight on the back with a full load, but it was unfounded. No tipping issues at all.
