suggestions on replacement headlights?

The headlights on my YM240 didn't work when I bought it. I thought about replacing the bulbs only, but after inspection, I would rather replace the entire lamp assembly and wiring. Both are in really bad shape.

Any suggestions on where to get the headlamp assembly/wiring? Do I need to stick with Yanmar parts on this one or could I find a similar replacement locally?

Lights are lights!! No reason they would have to be Yanmar to work!! Makiing them fit etc.. might be a challange but I think you can do it......

If you can't find OEM lights, I would try auto/truck accessories such as here. Measure your lights and see if anything matches up.

There are two listings for those headlights on Ebay presently:

The first is $9.99 per complete headlight assembly including mounting bolts and wires.

The other one is $4.99 for a reflector/lens assembly.

That ebay seller is in Huntsville so shipping should be minimal.

I bought complete used assemblies on ebay a while back and my total delivered cost for the pair was about $18. They work fine.

I suggest any parts search should start with ebay for used parts, then Hoyetractor for new parts since they seem to have the broadest stock, and then the other Yanmar dealers starting with the ones who post here. I think there are several in or near Alabama.

Since this is a YM240 (US version of the Japanese-market YM2000), Yanmar-USA corp can provide new parts but I expect they are real expensive. You might buy just the socket/wire assembly from them new to assure reliability.
