Can anyone recommend a good sun shade at a reasonable price? My dealer quoted me $350 for two different ones he carries (both metal). Does that sound about the going rate? I'm definitely going to need one for the hot Texas summer, which will be starting within a month or two...

That price sounds about right, the only regret I had was waiting until the 2nd summer to get mine! I have also added worklights to mine.

I paid $345 last spring for an aluminum diamond plate canopy. It has a layer of insulation and a rugged steel angle mount that lights attach to real easy. It is hard for limbs to hurt it and there is no paint to fade.:) It is an AAR canopy. I can ask my dealer where he buys them from if you want one.

Brandi,
Please ask your dealer for the information. I am interested in getting one.
Thanks

That AAR canopy sure does look like a Wells Ag canopy. With the Wells Ag canopy, I was offered the choice of steel painted to match the tractor, or unpainted diamond plate aluminum; same price either way at that time.

Brandi, that's very interesting. Did you notice where the Perry Company is located? Very close to my Kubota dealer in Waco, and they don't say they "made" that canopy; only that they sell them. Wells Ag company, that actually makes canopies, is on the northbound service road of I-35 in Elm Mott, which is just north of Waco. I think I'd bet on the Aardvark canopy being made for them by Wells Ag, but if they're not one and the same, at least I think you'd have a hard time finding a better one than either of those.:D

I believe mine was $300 from the dealer, but it is fiberglass with an insulating material underneath.

They are just up the road from me. I will just run on up and see what they have.

I really liked the diamond plate aluminum with insulated underside. Uninsulated ones can get darned hot and they radiate a lot of infra red heat on you. You don't get sunburned but you do get baked.

The shiny aluminum will reject a lot of solar heat. Even painting the top with aluminum paint or white will help it make you cooler.

My cab is due a coating of aluminum paint which will help the A/C keep me cool.

I just use a beach umbrella in a mount that I rigged up. I don't think it would hold up in the woods, works great for keeping the sun off in a more open area though. Cheap enough, if it breaks I can just go pick up a new beach umbrella for a few bucks ! (beach umbrella because it is wider than a reg. one)
