We had a few rain showers today and then this. Almost looked like the sky was on fire.

Kinda of errie feeling,like a distance forest fire....red sky at night could mean following next day shall be a lot warmer.

Thanks guys, You are right jinman I was out grilling some chicken and had just had the camera out a few moments before. My 4 year old daughter and I were looking at it and discussing why the clouds were red and she is acutally the one that suggested that we take a picture of it. She is a real thinker, very smart.

Here's what it means:

Red sky at night, sailors delight.
When we see a red sky at night, this means that the setting sun is sending its light through a high concentration of dust particles. This usually indicates high pressure and stable air coming in from the west. Basically good weather will follow.

A red sunrise reflects the dust particles of a system that has just passed from the west. This indicates that a storm system may be moving to the east. If the morning sky is a deep fiery red, it means a high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain is on its way.

So, it may look eerie, but you probably had good weather the next day

Nope no tripod, just off hand with my kodak 6490 camera. I did however have it on the night setting which I find works well when the light is limited.

Actually it was raining when I woke up this morning and they are calling for 90% chance of more rain today.

I love to see sunsets like that. We had a great one back in Dec and I had the camera handy. It was a sunset kind of like your with a rainbow in the east. Problem was one of them blured on me. Its good enough for the memories.

When you come to Texas, be sure to bring your wide-angle lens. You know sunsets are much bigger in Texas, don't you?
