I want one for my L3400, but I need a detachable model. After looking at every one on the net, the price can't be justified so I will build my own. After much brain storming I think the way to go is with a light aluminum frame or outter hoop and have canvas sewn on it. The frame can just drop in a "holster" type bracket that would be permently attached to the ROPS.

All this is still a mind project at this time so things may change. Anyone else done a top a long these lines?

I just purchased one from the Kubota local dealer. It was $450.50 total. That turned out to be cheaper than Sims Equipment.

After the first wet snowfall of the season and having the snow from overhead limbs and wires hit me in the head problem solved.

I added a metal disk to the top so I could use revolving warning light. People around here need to be warned of working equipment. :)

WOW quit expensive.

Mine was used without any damages. I bought it the same time went I bought my 52 Couture snowblower for $1500 CAD for both, probably that had a issue in seller mind. I do remember that he told me that a brand new was expensive but not as much as $425. I would had tough $300 or $350. Probably that's why there is some after market companies selling stuff for less pricey then OEM.

All the brackets are well made cause the shade to not move or swing at all.

I got my canopy brand new with the tractor for $295, but of course 7/21/99 was about eight and half years ago, so I don't know what they cost now.:D

I have a question about sunshades. When you stand up to climb off the tractor is there plenty of headroom under the sunshade? I am 6'5" and have a problem with my balance. I often have to walk with a cane on rough terrain. Because of my problem I am not supposed to climb ladders or run or ride a bicycle or activities that require a sense of balance. I don't have any problem climbing on and off my tractor so far but don't want to pay $500 or so to find out I don't have the headroom to stand up when getting off the tractor. If I have to bend over as I step off the tractor it might cause me problems. I can handle ducking my head but if I have to bend way over so my back and shoulders don't hit the underside of the sunshade, I should probably stick with an open, uncovered tractor.

If you have a sunshade mounted on your tractor, your thoughts or observations would be appreciated

Tom that is a tought question! On my smaller B-7500 I am able to get in pretty easily with the sun shade and the weather break, but I am pretty short. You have an L-3400 and I would suggest going to your dealer and see if they have one installed anywhere in the area.

The sun shade I have is mounted on the ROPS and it is very sits right at the top of the ROPS. I guess one could mount it higher if so desired. I will be working on my tractor today and will take a measurement of the height

Desertrose, it should be simple as standing on your platform and seeing if your head is above the ROPS. At 6' 5", I am sure it is..... and if you're like me and stand up quick you'll knock yourself out  . Some sunshades have extender brackets to position them higher, but then you'll have clearance issues with your shed door.
