Super Duty Lead Times

I am glad you called this to my attention I was in a panic for a bit .... I had used a google search to get the "dry weight"... why not, everything on the internet is true

I went to the manufacturer's site and the dry weight is listed as 2873 lbs. I then dug out the original brochure in the pile of paperwork the previous owner gave me and it confirms the 2873 lbs and that it is made for a 1 ton. So breathing room... some anyway. There would be only my wife and I in the pickup at any time and I am at my high school weight of 175 (my wife is only slightly above hers ) and we would run with the tanks dry. So I am going to noodle this and probably stop at the Ford dealer tomorrow. I would like to stay away from a DWR if possible for size reasons when the camper is not on it. Looking at the brochure it may be that the google search took me to a listing for an upper model in the series made for a 450/4500 DRW, the numbers line up there. All the pictures of my model show it on a 350/3500.
We had a fairly hefty camper on our truck for a while - it was within the truck's cargo capacity ('97 F350 SRW; 9.5' camper took most of what was available) and if you're not used to driving a truck with a heavy camper I think you may want to try before you buy and reconsider. I found driving it to be pretty disturbing - a lot of weight up fairly high made driving on curvy roads pretty uncomfortable and stressful, not to mention how it felt with crosswinds. Airbags may help some; we were considering that but then we ended up selling instead.

I have watched this model on the highways and agree they act tippy but at the same time my use will be mostly local. I am certainly not going to go cross country. A lot of use to my local remote farm property so I am not spending 2-1/2 hours on the road every day I go there. That all said, there seems to be a lot of happy owners of that camper. Me, I would rather be "tippy" than trailer.

Keep in mind that the outer edges of your mirrors, be it on a SRW or DRW, are generally the widest part of the truck. So - if the mirrors fit, the dually fenders will also.

...from someone who went from SRW to DRW to haul a camper and will never go back. HUGE difference in stability.

Good to know. I usually fold my mirrors but you make a good point. Thank you.

I special ordered a Ford F350XL, regular cab, 4x4, single rear wheel, chassis only 6 weeks ago. It's scheduled to be built mid Jan. Yes, 26+ weeks of lead time. I was looking for a 2021, that wasn't possible.

Curious, when do you pay for them these days?

You should take bets on the over or under on the January 2022 build date!

If you have to ask you can't afford it. :ROFLMAO:

I'm on the ford-trucks.com/6.7L powerstroke forum a lot since I own a 2014 6.7L Lariat. My only regret is not getting the King Ranch model.

MSRP on a 2022 6.7L King Ranch is about $85,000 and good luck getting any discounts.

You may have not been serious, but I can afford dozens of them, cash. That does not mean I do not watch every nickel. I do. Every last one.

Curious if Ford has you pay up front for a 26+ week delivery
