Mega-- thanks again for the great pics-- I'm getting a good education here! Hope it never happens to me, but it's nice to "watch" your operation.

Think I'll be taking a look at bolts on the bottom of mine; no clutch, but put together with bolts in any case....

I'm glad the seals made it ok. I tried to pack them so no damage would occur...and I assume they were ok?

Flathead has a great idea for the alignment pins and I don't want to take away any credit for it either. But all I had to do was get 2 long bolts and as I walked the 2 halves back together...I threaded them in to the block loosely as a guide and then just slid the front half into the rear and it went together perfectly.

U finish yet? inquiring minds and all that...

Hope Mega_Me posts his results soon, even some of us with a different color tractor are in suspense. I've read this entire thread (one of my first stops each day I read TBN) and in my opinion, one of the all-time best on TBN. Great people helping each other out and even sending parts to each other!!

I have also been looking daily. I really don't care the colour, if I can learn and even offer up advice, I surely will. Even tho' our MF only has 133 hours on it, I am really considering going over it with a torque wrench come spring. Never know what I may find loose.

Hey guys! Sorry to leave everyone hanging for a while......much to report! I am feeling better! My wife and I went on an out of town trip with the guys from the Fire Dept. and of course the wives went too. Had a good dinner and we had fun spinning some slots and playing some cards on the "Island". My wife kicked butt at blackjack! If any of you are close to West Va. you probably know where we were! On the drive back, my mother called and my grandmother fell on the ice and suffered a significant head injury. She is doing good and she should be coming home today.


TCBoomer, yes I did receive those seals! Thank you, thank you! They showed up in perfect condition. Your means of packaging was impressive!

Flathead, you mentioned earlier about using some studs/long bolts to help with the the separation, etc. Check out one of the earlier pics. I bought a couple of bolts that matched the threads, etc of the transmission housing. I cut off the heads and basically made studs out of them. They really helped with pulling apart and putting together both sections. Thanks for mentioning it! Grandpa always had good ideas...I sure miss him!

I touched up the rear portion of the engine block. Someone earlier mentioned the rusted freeze plugs and that one looked dented. None of them were dented, it was the camera flash. I did rough up the area/clean and I shot some high temp. paint. I went back with a clean rag and some thinner and wiped off a radius around the rear seal in preparation for some sealant and the new seal. I left the old seal in place during the painting etc.

This is a pic of the new rear main seal in place. I placed a bead of sealant around the outside of the seal before putting the back plate back on.

I cleaned up the back plate and painted it as well. This is it installed along with the new rear main seal.

Here is the throwout bearing/forks assembly reinstalled. I touched up some of the paint around that area. I made sure to lube up the bushings for the rod that support the clutch fork! Those roll pins are a pain in the butt to deal with!
