Suspension bridge

Darren, although tremendously intimidating, that has got to be one of the coolest projects ever!!!! I'm really glad to see you saving it. I want one! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My father was a civil engineer, who's PhD was a working one to create all the bridge codes for England. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So, I grew up with a great appreciation for bridges of all kinds. They're kind of poetic really, anything that brings people together is a good thing. Unfortunately, Dad's not with us anymore, or I'd have him send you the numbers.

Good Luck, and please, please keep us posted.

I really don't have a choice if I want to get in and out during high water. The bridge is a necessity. Today the weather forecast is for thunderstorms. That's the signal to park the trucks on the high ground on the other side of the creek. Then we walk back to the house using the suspension bridge.

During rainy periods when the water stays up it get's old. Everything has to be carried over the bridge including the garbage and anything else coming or going that we might need. It does have a few positive aspects. If any of the dogs get loose, none of them will cross the bridge on their own. They mosey back to the house in short order.
