So I was at my dealers the other day. I was having problems getting my 3-point cement mixer properly setup. I bought it a few months ago along with some other attachments. After messing with it a while he informs me that you can't fully raise or lower the lower lift arms while the cement mixer is hooked up. It has a hydraulic toplink to dump the mixer and when you use the full range of the lower lift arms along with the full range of the hydraulic toplink there is no way to have the pto shaft both long and short enough.

So while we were working on it and getting the pto shaft cut to the proper length I asked him about an adapter I had seen on a website. I already had a Worksaver made a Crane Boom (SSCB-2000) that had a Quick Tach mount but it's list price is 395. I told him I would rather put the money into an adapter that would mount 3-point attachments onto my Quick Tach. That way I could use an inexpensive 3-point boom pole and a lot of other 3-point equipment on my FEL instead of just the single use Worksaver Boom.

So we went into his cubicle and he got out a couple of his catalogs and he looked through them and then suggested the Switch-Hitch from Kasco. It was a little more money that a similar unit made by Worksaver (Model SS-Adapter $499,174 pounds) but the mounts for the lower lift pins were adjustable to accommodate 3-point equipment with varying widths. It also has a built-in Class 2 receiver for moving trailers and such around. It's list price is $525 but he thought he could get me one for $500 plus tax.

Here's the bad news, he said that he thought he had one of these in stock. We walked outside and sure enough there it was sitting on the ground oxidizing. This is bad news because I really wasn't in a position to buy one that day.

Here's the good news, I asked him if he would take $200 now and bill me in a month for the rest and he agreed. So we loaded it in the truck and went inside to write it up. I was a little dissapointed that it was kind of rusty but its just going to sit outside at my place too. So he has to run back out to my truck to get the serial number off of it and when he comes back in he says "Uh-Oh, I think I made a mistake". He said that the model he was showing me in the book for $525 was the SH-400 which was 195 pounds and was CAT I only. The one in the back of my truck was a model SH-596 which is 240 pounds and CAT I/II and lists for $649. While I went out to my truck to verify this he was working his figures. When I came back in he said that because they had this one a couple of years it was in stock before the price increases that if I still wanted it for $500 I could have it. He also said that if I later wanted the lighter unit (because of my limited lift capacity of my loader) that he would order one and swap them out.

So today I wen't to the new TSC that opened up Monday where the old QFF use to be. I went to look at the quality and check the price of their King Kutter boom pole. Well unfortunately the price reflected the quality. It is only rated at 500 pounds and looks poorly made. I'm sure that after I hook the boom pole to my Switch-Hitch which is hooked to my Uni-Hitch I won't be able to lift much weight anyway. I've read on here that they go on sale from $69 down to $49 quite frequently so I did not buy one today. This boom pole measured 92" from the lower lift pins to the end of the loop. Add that 92" to my loaders lift height at the pivot of 100" and that gets me up about 16 feet if I have it straight up.

Here is a picture of the Kasco Switch-Hitch in the back of my truck.

Re: Adapter on adapter

Thanks CedarRanch, It's a lot of money but its a lot of versatility. I figure that because it is heavier duty and Cat I/II it should hold up better and be easier to sell if I ever decide to get rid of it.

Here is a picture of my Kasco Uni-Hitch on my loader. This Quick Tach system is great. I constantly switch between my bucket and my forks and I can do it in about 90 seconds.

I didn't buy the boom pole so I can't show you that, but here is a pic of my rear blade mounted up front.

Hi Nick,
Yes it was Rich that I was dealing with. Don't say anything to anyone I don't want him to have to explain the deal to anyone.

I've got the Kasco Switch Hitch for my EarthForce EF-500. I haven't used the three-point hitch capability yet, except to pick up my 6' Agric tiller with scarifiers to make sure it would handle it, but I've moved some very heavy trailers with a pintle hitch in the receiver tube. It seems like an excellent product so far.

Re: Adapter on adapter

Spence--could you please provide a little more detail on the Uni-Hitch, including $ and installation for the 33D, how you hook it to the bucket, and whatever else you have time for? It sure looks like a great addition to the 7309 FEL . . . Thanks!

Re: Adapter on adapter

Rick,
I bought the Uni-Hitch right up front as part of the tractor deal. I knew I wanted to have a set of forks and I did not like the idea of having to remove and replace the 4 pins on the loader each time. The bucket needs to have the Quick Tach plates welded onto it. New Holland doesn't make a Quick Tach setup for the 7308 so I had to get the Kasco Uni-Hitch adapter to mount on my loader. New Holland does make a Quick Tach system for its 16LA and larger loaders so my dealer just got me a NH Quick Tach heavy duty 60" bucket made for the 16LA. It cost me $400 for the Uni-Hitch and another $50 to move up to the Quick Tach heavy duty bucket. The $50 for the bucket wasn't more because of the Quick Tach, it was more because it was heavy duty instead of the standard bucket that comes with the 7308 loader. The drawback of the bucket I got is that I lost about 5 degrees of rollback. You can buy the Quick Tach plates separately and weld them on yourself. I don't know how feasible that would be because you may have to remove the four existing pin mounts on your bucket. That is why I went with the system right from the start so I wouldn't have to purchase a new bucket and be stuck with a bucket I couldn't use. I have attached a picture of the Uni-Hitch mounted to my loader arms. You can see in the picture that this Uni-Hitch is made to fit a variety of loaders so there is quite a bit of slop. I later made some spacers out of rigid copper pipe and they seem to be holding up extremely well. I will also attach a photo of my Quick Tach bucket and my Quick Tach forks.

Looks like you got a good deal.
My pole is a Southwest that I have had for many years.
You posted in my thread on the Speeco Quick Hitch that I modified for my B2910. But I'll post a link to the thread for others. Click Here
I bought it at Hodges Farm Equipment in Fenton, MI. They may be able to help you out with finding a heavy duty one for a good price.
