You mean like the ones I use to overfill the crankcase and fuel tank? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Mike,

Here's another idea. Most auto supply stores have pour spouts that replace the original caps. There may be one made for a Rotella gallon jug, but I've only been able to find ones that fit windshield washer fluid bottles.

If you take the original (Rotella) cap and spend a couple minutes at the drill press, you could end up with this.

Hot glue on the mating surfaces and a bead around the edge connects the lid to the pour spout. Be sure to tighten lid (with gasket in place) to determine which part of the cap ends up in front before you glue.

Hi George,

I was looking at your profile... what's your third best move you've ever made...? /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Finished product. With reasonable care, the hot glue should hold. Keep the spout closed until the jug is in the pour position, ready for action, and spillage should be minimal.

This may not be the ultimate solution for you. I also use funnels when necessary, but I clean them up when I'm done, and the spout requires less clean up. Good luck.

John,

I'll have to get back to you on that one, but reading your thread on synthetic diesel oil has got to be close. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Mike,

How about buying some quarts along with the gallon? Quarts aren't that much more at Wally World. You could even save one of the empty quart bottles and refill if from the gallon, using a 'funnel'. That way you would have an indication of how much you're adding. Just some thoughts.
