We have a dedicated 64K line that supplies two quote machines with quotes/internet/email etc... The quotes portion requires most of the available bandwidth.

With the upcoming changeover to decimalization for stocks, we apparently need higher horsepower connection. /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif

In comes a T-1 line (phone company here right NOW)that origionally was intended to be shared, HOWEVER, the other quote machine has been removed for a variety of reasons, which means I'm going to have a dedicated T-1 line for my personal use.

The Boss doesn't think that's fair, as he has to share our ISDN (128K) line with about 12 other users. I TRIED to inform him this is to help the dataflow for decimalization and though was intended for two machines, it certainly isn't MY fault we cancelled one of them!!!

He just keeps looking at me, wondering why I look so gleeful. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

A dedicated T-1 line is a lot of fun...I got you one step better though, I have a dedicated T-1 IN MY HOUSE (I work at home-self employed)! Had it for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier with it (OK, maybe I'd be happier if it was a t-3)...

Where I live, it was either dial-up or a leased line...You can't get cable and you can't get DSL and you can't get ISDN...

I must have a faster cable model (@home) system.
Just did the MSN Bandwidth Speed test and got this:

Your line speed:
4080 Kbps
500 K bytes/sec

The T-1 is shown at 1,500 Kbps.

Ok Jim, where was it you live again? That is what I call unfair to the rest of us. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Those are very good speeds out of a cable modem... you should be very happy with that service!

I just ran their little test on mine and it says:

Sometimes ignorance is bliss (which probably makes me a pretty happy guy)
15.8Kbps
1.9Kbytes/sec
