T&T - Which T more useful?

Couple recent threads concerning whether or not a hydraulic top link is useful (or wother the cost) got me thinking...

Top goes with Tilt, yada yada...seems to be the consensus that anyone who has a T&T can no longer live without one.

Still...if you had to live with one T or the other, which would it be?

For things like brush hogging, I suppose the top link would be the choice.

For post hole digging on odd angles, maybe the tilt would win.

For crowning a driveway/road/trail seems like I would want both...

All around, they must be equall on average.

What do you think?

Top, by far. It's useful with almost every implement.

Tilt, on the other hand, is indespensible with some implements like a grader blade, but with other implements it adds no value, or even gets in the way. My tilt droops over time, and so for an implement like a rotary mower, it's a pain in rear. Same for a chipper, winch, backhoe, etc. I've gotten to the point where I used the fixed link by default, and only put on the tilt cylinder when I specifically need it.

My recommendation would be:

1) If you can only afford on cylinder, get the top cylinder. You'll never regret it.

2) If you go for a tilt cylinder as well, be sure it's easy to switch back and forth between the original fixed link and the tilt cylinder.

I think hayden has given the analysis that makes sense to me. But, everybody's implements and their usage is unique to them. I have a top only and use it all the time. I think that the tilt would be necessary in instances where a top link is also mandatory... such as almost constant/exclusive use of a box blade. I suppose that there might be a situation where somebody exclusively uses a PHD and the tilt would be the mandatory item for them...

So... i guess it depends /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I could only have one, I would go with the top... I think.
The tilt is mighty handy when hooking up implements at times; other than that the box blade is about my only use for it. After having both for a few years I don't think I'll be without either in the future. Money well spent for me!
And Hayden with a problem mowing due to the tilt cylinder drift... get a set of check-chains or drop-limiting chains and that will solve your problem for about $20. I had the same problem with my bushhog.

The top link. My hydraulic top link is used all the time..
I like having a tilt cylinder, but I use it very little compared to the top link.
