T2220 Disappointing

Your parking brake might need some adjustment if you can't get it set.

I know on mine, I have to press fairly hard on the brake while pulling up on the handle. Then let off the brake, and finally, the handle. To disengage, simply press hard on the brake again.

This is the way Ford/New Holland has been doing the parking brake for over 20 years on many models. I agree it's not always easy, but it does work. Ii much prefer the car type lever on my TN.

Hey LittleJohn,

I just tap the forward reverse peddle and then try to put her in gear. I do find myself using the cruse a lot but still like her. For the mowing and working dirt I really like this one. For plowing or field work I'll use the DX60 and the shuttle shift. Glad you got your daughter fixed up.

For my cup hold I just zip tied a large plastic cup to my ROPS then I sit my can in that cup. It works well. For the brake - I get it every time and easily on my New Holland TC25D but my youngest struggled last year but this year he is successful every time. For the Hydro pedal - are you sure you have your seat in the proper position?

Mine has zero rattles after electrical taping up the pins in the ROPS. The mower deck concept is inferior to my old JD270 finishing mower but in all fairness it is a MMM and really can't be compared to the 3 point ease, depth of deck and quietness. I mean that thing was tight and without any rattles while that MMM on my TC is rattling and jerking all the time. See, the big wheels on the JD mower was less bouncy - and yes, I am sure to take most of the MMM weight onto the tractor vs. the MMM wheels. I like my New Holland but I have had a couple of issues: The cowl mounting near the bolts cracked - it is like that thick, cheap, plastic that gets brittle. I hate that. Also, the PS hoses up front swell so I applied about 20 zip ties around the hoses so they won't burst. The 3 point ease of connection is worse than my old Ford 641- difficult to spread and align but I finally got used to it. Funny thing though - I have been struggling with it so long now that I have almost forgotten how easy the old one was. What I am saying is that those who buy the tractor as their first one without a reference point will never realize what they are missing. Everything else about the tractor I really like - it has 800 hours now and is very dependable. I like the looks too...and my wife thinks my tractor is sexy. So is your new one. Get to know it my friend - love it and it will love you back. :)

Granted, I haven't even hit 10 hours on my T2220 yet, but I'm quite happy with it. Only complaint is it's lack of power on hills. But, the lower gears are the answer, and I'm heavy. The unit had loaded tires when I picked it up.

No cupholder, yeah, apparently they want us to buy the optional cupholder/ toolbox.

The pedal. I'd rather see the two pedal setup my TZ25 had. But, this looks heavier and more reliable in the long run. I'm 6'4, so I understand the "push straight down" issue. BUT, the more I use it, the more comfortable and second-nature the action seems to be. When it comes to pushing down, I'm more apt to beotch about the diff-lock "pedal". You call that a pedal? I'm still thinking of a bolt on fix for that thing.

I had issues with the park brake (Once I found it!) too. But after paying attention to what I was doing, I found it was my procedure at fault.

Getting into gear has been an issue, but tapping the pedal here too was the fix. I'm anxious to try the clutch. Never thought of it, but then my TZ which did the same thing didn't have one. I won't call it a problem though. Anyone who drives a tractor trailer will find any transmission will have the same problem if not used properly.

A little note, I backed down the stop under the pedal for reverse. MUCH better! Factory setting had me being passed by the slugs trying to escape from the chip pile.

I'll take the comfortable seating, high rider position with nice view, quiet operation, and sharp steering as more than enough pluses to overide the negatives. I almost think this thing out steers my little TZ25!
