John Deere 2240 MFWD
I have an older John Deere tractor which I bought used. When I received it the tach was non-functional.:( A new one through Deere was nearly $1200.:confused2: I spent some time searching the web and found a company called Southern Electronics http://southernelectronics.com/ in Virginia who repairs all kinds of instrument clusters for vehicles and advertised their repairs at what I felt was a reasonable price.

I contacted them and asked if they thought they might be able to repair my tach. They told me that they did not know without looking at it. I shipped the tach to them with a shipping lable they provided and at their expense. I received my tach back yesterday and reinstalled it today. It works beautifully. My complete cost, including shipping both directions, was $175 and took about two months.

I am happy with the service I received and since I have heard of others with defective tachs and the high prices of replacement, I thought I would share this resource with the rest of you.:)
