id find a 6 series deere used/lease return before i would go 5 series i have read some stories on here about them i see a lot of 6 series around here doing a lot of mower work on the highways pulling batwings and i dont see them down much they are always mowing, my neighbor has 6 deeres, one 6 series 3 - 7 series and 2 8 series, he likes the 7 n 8 more than the 6 so it considering getting rid of it, his issues have been electronic gremlins with it but he bought it used with 4K hours on it and not from a dealer

I have driven a couple 6 series and liked them but never spent tons of time in them to give them a fair review sorry i dont have much other info to offer

Well I've contacted two different Kubota dealers and waiting on a quote for a 7060 from them. I've been the Parts Manager at an automotive dealership for 20 years, and the level of service provided when it comes to getting a price on a tractor baffles me. It would never take this long in the automotive world. I sent emails to both dealerships with my specs and requested a quote yesterday, I even called one of them and told them an email was on the way, and I still haven't heard from either one. The John Deere dealerships weren't much better either. Seemed like I had to keep reminding them that I wanted a price on a tractor. I'm sure they make a much greater commission on a 200 HP tractor, or a combine, but it would be nice to get a quicker answer.

I wouldn't be afraid of the Deere, keep in mind most people on this site push orange tractors..

Good luck. When I bought my tractor I had a list of about 4 different brands I wanted to compare/cross shop. Wound up contacting ~3 dealerships for each brand in my area (12 total) and only 1 got back to me. I rolled up to the others and was greeted with some level of help at some of them, most of them I knew a lot more about the tractor than they did. It was a nightmare, I wound up driving 2 tractors and basically picked Kioti because the guy knew how to answer the phone, use e-mail and gave me a good price. I never did get a "real" price from any other dealerships, I'd drive the tractor, tell them I wanted a quote on a 4066R with these options, and then.. Nothing.. No calls. I'd call them, no progress "still gettin her quoted out for you" (3 weeks later).

It was a horrible process. Yes, it was a 40K purchase, not 400K. I get that. But I still need someone to actually sell me the machine! Perhaps the tractor companies should force their dealerships to split, 100HP and under and 100HP and over so that guys looking to spend <250K can actually get a call back.

I'll say this, if any tractor manufacturer offered "buy online" with the options I wanted, I would have done that. I was just so fed up with chasing these guys (and still am) that I couldn't take it anymore. I told a story awhile ago about a big hydro scrape blade I bought. Well, I wanted to buy local. I really did. I called every dealer in my area, asked them what they had, and asked for quotes. I didn't get a single quote back. Not one. And one implement I did need to purchase locally (not available for delivery) was a nightmare. Dealer couldn't deliver it for weeks and I couldn't pick it up because it would trigger sales tax. Crazy.

Maybe it's time to move to the Tesla model. Here's a showroom where you can see them/drive them. Then go online and order whatever you want for delivery without the dealer involved at all except as a place to pick it up. Sad to say, I think it's come to this (and companies like RK are capitalizing on it).

Just go in. They get calls all the time, spend hours putting together quotes and never hear from folks again. If you go in they know you are committed. They will give you one on the spot.

That might be true in most cases (it wasn't in mine, I actually went in and test drove a tractor, sat with the guy for an hour, got all the specs together, then chased him for about a month trying to get a price before I gave up). But that's an absolutely ridiculous way to do business in today's day/age. And you're seeing it in brands like RK, I just want a fair price with easy to see/configure options.

I'll tell you this, if Kubota had a "buy online" option, I'd almost certainly have a Grand L instead of a NX6010. That's the tractor I wanted. I called 1/2 a dozen dealers. Went into 2 and test drove it both places. Cash buyer, so no issues there. I never could get a quote on one. My tractor options were greatly restricted by my ability to get an actionable quote. Kioti gave me one (not without going to 3 dealers an chasing one to the end of the earth). And I also got one from MF. Kubota and Deere, never could get one. Actually, Deere was even a little worse, I couldn't even find the tractor I wanted to look at (4066). So I called Deere directly, told them what I wanted, and asked them were I could go see one within 200 miles of my home. They said "let us call around and we'll get back to you". Yup, you guessed it. Still waiting for that call, 3 years later.

The future, sadly for the dealers, is going to be "configure and order online" with dealers there to "showroom" the machines and look at them. Similar to Tesla. It doesn't have to be that way, but it's going to be that way because of the absolutely atrocious sales process for a lot of these machines. Sure, Kubota ain't crying over the 40K I didn't spend with them. But I can't be the only one.

If I were buying today, it would be real hard to not look at RK simply because of their pricing and ordering process. Frankly, I'd like to be able to just enter a CC number on their website and have the thing show up on a flatbed 2 weeks later. All I really want from the dealer is a place to see it, run it, and get it fixed. Tesla, IMHO, is the model. Sad for dealerships, but maybe better, if it's true that most of the money is in service, well, they can spend a lot less time pretending to want to sell a tractor, just line them up out front, let people drive them, and then service them when need be.

wow i did all mine via email - got answers within the next day or two tops unless my salesman was OOO that was at Deere. Kubota, Mahindra, LS, New Holland, Kioti all gave me prices over the phone or within a couple days. Kubota priced it over the phone my first call. Mahindra/LS did also but they were the same dealer. I had to wait on N/H and Kioti to research and call me back took them a day or two. I called Case IH and they researched as well but it took them a few days because they werent sure if they could come up with what I wanted. They came close but no cigar.

It took me about 2 months to pull the trigger on my deere from start to finish and I only went one time to check out the tractor between emailing for pricing and then walking in with the $$$ at Deere.

Curious if you just took the first price quote they gave you, and if it was for tractor only, or during that two months did you do some negotiating on the tractor and, or additional options and equipment.

I’ve always been a face to face type feller and would not feel like I had as good a chance to make a deal I was comfortable with via email negotiations.

Kubota, LS, Mahindra, were non negotiable on their prices - they said this is our price we dont negotiate - all 3 of them were MSRP outside of a rebate that was visible online/dealer special - Kubota was by far the highest with the biggest chip on their shoulder and I was surprised that Mahindra/LS ( same dealer ) were so staunch on their prices and higher than deere. New Holland was MSRP, I didnt negotiate with them after that because they didnt have exactly what i was looking for. The Case/IH was pretty much the same experience - about 5 to 7 K higher but in fairness the LS/NH/CIH were all a step up in tractor size compared to the 2038R, they were more of a 3 series deere in size/weight. I am Sooooo glad i did not do that because of the weight and impact i would have made on my yard especially in the wet year we have had.

So.........specifically what i was looking for was highest HP i could get in a MMM that protruded outside of the footprint of the tire width for easier mowing around things and to mow quicker as well as a loader for mostly landscaping because my skidsteer is HEAVY and tears up my yard so much or leave ruts when i want to do some work.

Most only offered a 25hp smaller SCUT in a 60" deck and I already had a 62" on my 2210 deere that i wanted to get rid of.

Deere is the ONLY brand that has a 72" MMM - CIH has a 66" but its on their BIGGER tractor chassis.

I priced out a MMM, Tractor, Loader with R4 tires. No other add ons.

Deere came with a price which was lower than MSRP and then once I found out no one else had what i wanted I called another dealer, it was then i found out Deere gives their dealers another incentive/reduction in price if their buyer is in their same county/dealer coverage area. The second dealer i contact said i would love to sell you a tractor but I know they can do better on their price because of incentives for you in their county, he said work on them a little harder. I appreciated him telling me that and the fact that deere trys to support local purchases in that manner to give their dealers more opportunity.

I sent two more emails after I went and looked/sat on the tractor. They did not have the 72" Quick Connect deck that i wanted but found one they could get within a week if needed from another dealer. The 2038s were a little hard to get at the time so he told me I might have to wait a bit for delivery. Once we agreed on the price he went to work to locate and have a unit ordered/transported and configured.

My tractor came preassembled from one dealer with the loader and another dealer is where the deck came from. My dealer did final deck install and delivery.

I only had to wait about 2 wks for transport to dealer/setup/delivery once i wrote the check.

Here is another thing my dealer did. We had negotiated a trade price on my 2210 and a guy had seen my 2210 tractor on Craigslist. I had removed the ad but he had written my info down because he was out of town. He contacted me and wanted to look at it. I contacted my salesman and he said well if you can get more than we offered go ahead because we will have to prep yours for sale and not make all that much on it so go for it.

The guy ended up buying it and my dealer allowed me to sell it on my own. I sold it for 1500 more than the dealer offered me on trade SO it was a WIN!!!!

I have had a couple issues with my 2038R but they have been taken care of w/o any issues or questions from my dealer.

thank you, good to know about the Deere dealer incentive for in County sales. I learned something there.

I can talk chit with the best of em when wheelin & dealin motorcycles and boats, but, with these HIGH prices on USED TRACTORS, I feel kinda whooped tryin to negotiate on a new one.
