Cedar 30" at the butt. Never measured the length but it was a tall tree. Got enough lumber out of it to fill an order of 6x6,2x6, 4x4's & 1x6.

Nice. Hard to see the species from the photo. Now I see you’re from BC.

Nice cedar. Not only does it have some size, but you somehow grow it straight up there!

😲 Lucky to find 16-18 butts around here. Any that you do find usually has barbed wire buried in it. I would much prefer to build my outdoor stuff with cedar instead of this “new” pressure treated stuff.

I unhook the trailer and load with the tractor. I had a regular set of forks yrs. ago but soon found that's a good way to take front seals and bearings out on small tractors by over loading. So I made of 16" detachable forks. You can see in the pick I'm carrying a log in front of my bucket as well.

Yes I see what you mean - for the same reason I ended up dragging whole bunch of logs behind my tractor last fall by using a short logging chain.
These logs were not nearly as big as in your photo, but some were very long & heavy nevertheless.

Hybrid Poplars, loaded with water:

It was an experiment, but I will never again plant these species!

You're a forester...lol.

Come on.
Why are you always such a jerk? Can you just leave things alone? When I looked at these pictures on my little itty-bitty iPhone I really wasn’t able to determine what the bark looked like. But then I put my glasses on and looked at them on my iPad and it appeared to be cedar. Wow, why are you so angry with life? Oh, and feel free to criticize my writing skills, it gives me such a joy to be judged by such a wiener . HaHa

You seem fragile.

Maybe you should play in a sand box with bumper guards on it so your sensibilities don't get insulted?

I guess it needs to be said for the uneducated, but foresters pride themselves on their ability to id any tree. It's their schtick, their parlor trick. So stop being offended by inside jokes...you're being that guy.

I have a Fransgard winch ( borrowed picture ) I have it on the back of my tractor 90% of the time , it is very useful not for only skidding logs but getting vehicles out of a ditch etc or even getting the tractor itself unstuck.
Plus it is a great counter weight with my 4 in 1 bucket on my tractor.
