Talk me into buying

I've had lots of old tractors.
I highly recommend old, but old or new be careful what you buy.
Most of the old fords, and fergusons are plentiful. In fact the N model is the most popular tractor to date, Millions of them were produced. Parts are easy to find and you can get them on ebay or amazon really cheap. I once bought a mitsubishi. That was a nightmare, even though it wasn't all that old. It was impossible to get parts for.
Beware of new tractors made by manufactures that haven't been around long. They come and go and then good luck getting parts.
I pretty much stick with old fords, fergusons, and a few others.

Thought I should also mention
It's trickier then just buying a good brand. Model, and even specifics of the model are important.
For example, the ford 3000 is a good model however, it came in diesel or gas. Part availability for the 2 is not the same. Even worse, the old gas ones were 4 cylinder, the newer ones were 3 cylinder. Parts for one are far more common then parts for the other. Before buying check that you can get parts for the motor and tranny that are in the tractor your looking at.
I wouldn't worry too much. You can get a good used one for 2000-3000 and if you buy used I doubt it will be your last tractor

Just built a house on 10 acres. I have a 500' gravel driveway to maintain, 7 or so acres to bush hog, 2 acres to mow and 1 acre of woods. I have really been wanting to buy a tractor lately, but I don't know if I should buy an old used tractor for $5000 and under or invest $20000+ for a new tractor. Has anyone on here bought a brand new tractor with front loader and all the fixings and regretted it? Or is anyone getting by with an older tractor wishing they could upgrade to a new one? Part of me thinks an old Ford 2000 would get the job done for what I need, bug I can't help but to think a new tractor would be a much more enjoyable experience.
Hi and welcome SoInLineman. I am new to the tractor world as well. I jumped in with both feet and this year purchased a new LX2610 with bucket, box blade, forks, grapple and front snow blower. I assume that you will be staying there for a while as you just built. You will be using your tractor more than you think. Unless your good at diesel and hydraulics repair I would recommend a new unit. $ is always a factor and as mentioned previously, buying heavier helps.
Good Luck,
Have Fun.
