Tank level for gravity feed

I have a Ford 345D and I just replaced the water separator and the fuel filter. (Water separator had a chip at the top, very very slowly letting in air) my question is: I put it back together and the fuel isn’t gravity feeding into the separator. There is only 5 gallons, maybe 4 in the tank, is that maybe not enough to push the fuel through to gravity feed and fill and bleed everything?

Loosen that bolt in the middle, you likely have an airlok.

It’s weird, I loosened that bolt and even loosened the bleeder on the back right and it’s still not breaking the airlock. Since I replaced the whole filter housing from a local used tractor parts place I’m gonna try blowing some air back through the bleeders in case there’s some kind of gunk or something in there, it’s weird it seems clean if that doesn’t work I’m going to add five more gallons of diesel.

Crack the line loose on the outlet side of the whole thing. Only other thing I can think of is the fuel shutoff on the bottom of the tank might be clogged.

Is that a NAPA filter I see there.??
U HAVE TO put the top oring UP IN THE GROOVE in the filter head.. NOT ON THE FILTER..
Even if u did, it might have fallen.. check it..
5 gallons is minimum quantity.. add some more.

Ended up being that the water separator/filter housing had an internal blockage ( probably from being a used part and sitting for who knows how many years in an old tractor repair shop.) I had to drill out the blockage and then hooked everything up, bled the system and used it for an hour before it stalled on me.. so I checked the bleeder on the filter housing and nothing came out at all so I blew air into the bolt bolt in between water separator and filter and I could hear the air come out inside the tank and then as soon as I let off there was a rush of fuel so there is some crap in the bottom of the fuel tank that needs to be cleaned out. I need to replace the shutoff at the bottom of the tank anyways so.. just wanted to update everyone.. thanks for all of your help, this site has been critically essential in keeping our tractor running for our animal sanctuary. So I thank you, the animals thank you, you guys are the best.
