After posting this thread, & then having ongoing super-slow Internet Explorer problems, using suggestions in this thread & advice from my computer-programmer friend, I installed & tried out both Google Chrome & Firefox. I had tried Firefox years ago but found it had
many quirks, so I uninstalled it & went back to IE.
The new version of Firefox is
great! It does everything IE does (to my knowledge), & in the nearly the identical way, so it takes very little time to get used to it. (Google Chrome is good, too, but I like Firefox better)
But the main reason I'm posting is that
it made me automatically smarter!!! What??! Yep! Switching to Firefox made me smarter! How? Wait? What?!! From NPR:
"
What does your web browser say about your IQ? This final note today, lifted from our friends over at Freaknomics. Does what web browser you use say anything about how smart you are? Turns out yes. A study by AptiQuant Psychometric Consulting and no I'm not making that up says people who use Microsoft's Internet Explorer score lower on IQ tests that users of every other browser out there. Smartest web surfers, by the way? Firefox."
OK, so I was living large!, knowing I was now smarter for simply having switched to Firefox ... for about a day ... when I re-read the article & found that NPR is now stating that they have discovered that the survey was a hoax
BBC News - Internet Explorer story was bogus
Oh well, Firefox really is great! It starts up & loads pages waaaay faster than my IE
