You've cleared it up! Thanks!

BTW ... I asked the local Kubota dealer to price me a 2910 instead of the 2710, and although the retail difference is only a thousand dollars, his difference was plus 2000 over the 2710. This includes a 72"mmm instead of the 60", but I have to say I was surprised at the difference. I was counting on about +800 or so. Maybe he has too many 2710's and not enough 2910's?

It does sound like it. For $800-1,000 difference, I'd be likely to go for the B2910, but for $2,000; no way.

In addition to uses such as "Top 'N Tilt", other implements, such as snow blowers and box blades, can also use hydraulics. Snow blower hydraulics can be used for chute rotation or deflection (of course our buddy, Bird, being from Texas isn't familiar with this one /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif). Box blades can use hydraulics for controlling scarifiers. Of course this assumes the implement is designed to use hydraulics. I currently have manual adjustments on my snow blower but will be changing/retrofiting to hydraulic once I add the rear hydraulics to the tractor (and will also add the "Top 'N Tilt").

Be sure to consider what you will be doing and how much. Hydraulics on implements adds cost to them in addition to the cost of the valves on the tractor. The cost/value equation may not weigh in your favor.

I'm not sure what I'm doing qualifies as sophisticated enough for those extra hydraulics. I'm also cheap, er, uh, frugal (which explains why I'm having apoplexy over this purchase!) and I'm more likely to go with manually adjusted implements. I think a set of chains might me a better investment - lately it doesn't snow often around here, but it does snow deep. Turfs might need some help.

Thanks for the reply!

I got a price on a new TC25d in Pa for $19,200. It came with a Loader, and a 60" MMM. It also had Supersteer. Your price sounds great. I didn't try to haggle, I wasn't ready to buy at the time. Good Luck!!!

As it turned out, low $19,000's was what just about everyone around here quoted me. Thanks to BillH, I found Randolph Kinsey at Theros Equipment in Fredericksburg, VA. They must do remarkable volume to be able to offer the price we settled on. FYI, I wound up with the last 25D of a batch ordered earlier this year. If you want one from there, I think you'd be looking at something like $17,800 for the tractor from a later shipment, fel, and mmm. Their setup includes two welded hooks and antifreeze-based ballast in the rears.

Randolph has been very helpful, no pressure, and happy to answer newbie questions without making me feel dumb (although I could tell he got a kick out of my request that he snap and send some photos of Thor after he is set up and ready for delivery - spring pickup is a long, long time away). Folks in Fredericksburg are lucky to have such a dealer near them.
