Hmm.. I'd get rid of my gear tractor if it had that kind of a problem. I'll have to file this one away in my list of reasons to NOT own a hydro trans tractor...
List is so far, way thicker than the list of reasons of to own one... so far..

I think it's the hydro equivalent of a gearing issue. They are also designed and built with a stop below the pedal to keep you from going too fast in reverse, although some here have modified that part a bit.
As for hydro vs. gear, each has it's adavantages and disadvantages. I like the fine control the hydro offers in many situations but still find myself wanting the pure lugging abilities of a gear tranny now and then. I still think my B7100 would have outpulled the DX29 in certain circumstances like dragging logs uphill.

Please don't get me wrong. My hydro will back up in all ranges. But if under certain loads ( ie; full bucket) I may have to drop one range to move it in reverse. Nedium range in forward and reverse are "geared differently".
