Already posted my thank you's. Now I'll post the price.

Equipment; TC-33D FWD Hydro, R4's, Bush Hog M246 FEL 6' bucket. $17,500.00 out the door.

AL has a 2% tax on farm equip, so that's 17,156.75.

On by the way, Did I say thanks to all? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

David, have you read Mosey's threads on his Bush Hog FEL? I know he is not pleased with it on his TC29D. If you haven't read his threads yet let me know and I will try to find you some links.

Here's a link to that thread.

Thanks for the concern. I have read several threads about the Bush Hog Loaders but would appreciate any more info I can get. If you could point me in the right direction I will reread them and maybe gain more insight.

I saw both the BH and the NH FEL on tractors and I didn't note anything that would make one a bad choice over the other. Each one had it advantages and disadvantages.

I can't recall now but if he got the M146 I can see where he'd be less than pleased. I was quoted that one and when I looked at the specs I made the dealer revise it.

Mosey got the M246 for his 29D and was very much less than pleased. Might want to read all the messages in the link to the thread in my previous message and then rethink your decision to get the M246. Given Mosey's experience, I'd get an agreement with the dealer that the FEL has to pass the 'Mosey Test' before you accept the M246.

I just went back and reread the entire thread and see what some of the problems are and will call Fred Monday and tell him that it will have to pass the Mosey test or it'll be a NH for me. I remember lifting the hood of the tractor with the BH FEL installed, but you can bet that I'll be looking much more closely on Wednesday.

Thanks for bringing that back to my attention.

I don’t want to bang you over the head… but…./forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

When you have a 2500 lb. tractor, you certainly don’t offset a loader on it that weighs over half as much as the tractor… and then attempt to pick up a load that weighs half as much again… /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The TC29 and TC33 are identical units except the powerplants… the geometry of the BH 246 loader is for a LARGER tractor… (I’m sorry, I don’t care what the Bush Hog literature states!)

The NH loader has been proven and time tested to work with your tractor… by the company that mfr. your tractor…

In physics… You cannot get something for nothing… you will never achieve the max. loader lifting capacity that BH claims with the 246 being used on a TC33… even if you “could” place over 2000 lbs. of rear ballast to compensate and balance “the tractor seesaw…” (those advertising claims are the Best that BH loader can do… mounted on a different and Larger framed and heavier tractor)

You cannot defeat the laws of physics… /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

(do yourself a big favor and PM Mosey to get it straight from the horse’s mouth…)

That sounds like a great price. I just went to my dealer today to price the same tractor. They wanted $16K for a TC33D and $3250 for a 7308 FEL. Seems quite high doesn't it??

Thanks for summing it up like that. You did an excellent job of making your point.

There were three reasons I went with the M246.

1) The Max Height is stated at 103" which is comparable to the 7308.

2) The dealer has one in stock.

3) It was quoted at almost $1000.00 less than a 7308 by 2 different dealers.

After reading Mosey's thread again and all the great advice here as well as being beat over the head /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif , (Which I very much appreciate, thanks John) I will be renegotiating for the 7308 loader even if I have to wait to have one delivered. I should have done that to begin with /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks again for all the info and advice.

John stated it very well "When you have a 2500 lb. tractor, you certainly don't offset a loader on it that weighs over half as much as the tractor... and then attempt to pick up a load that weighs half as much again..."

DavidJ - You're doing the right thing waiting for the 7308 and paying the extra $1000. If I could go back in time I'd do the same thing! Has your dealer sold any M246 loaders for a Class II Boomer? For my dealer, I was the first.

By the way, I just read your post TC-33D ordered Today, Many thanks to all here and your statement "One note is that the M246 is 401 lbs heavier than the 7308, looks like most of it's in the mount."

Actually, the M246 mounted on Class II Boomer weighs 1377 lbs, which is 537 lbs more than the 7308. The M246 mount weighs 320 lbs more than the 7308 mount, but most of it is not very far back - it's right behind the front wheels so it adds a lot of weight to the front of the tractor.
