Doug, I believe if the PTO is engaged (or the tractor thinks it is) or if the tractor is in gear the engine will not crank. All these things are controlled by switch closures under the left operator's platform by the brakes or between the wheel and the seat. You need to look behind the left step at the brake pedals and parking brake to see if something has come loose and/or the switches are out of adjustment. I believe you can see the PTO switch better from behind the tractor looking up between the wheel and the transmission. If you can get someone to move the levers while you watch, it really helps.
The transmission switch is on the side of the transmission, so make sure it hasn't come loose.
Since you say your PTO light is ON, I doubt the transmission switch is malfunctioning. It's probably a misadjusted PTO switch or a broken wire.
What happens when these interlocks shut the tractor down is the tractor will not turn over and/or the fuel shutoff solenoid is deenergized. Once the problem is located, it will be a simple solution. The hardest part is finding it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
