Yes, JD's 790 and 990 tractors are positioned more as their "no-frills" price fighter tractors. The 790 competes head to head with NH's TC30, but NH does not have a similar type of tractor to go head to head with JD's 990.
I used to compare the TC40 to JD's 4510 or 4610, and NH's TC45 to JD's 4710, but haven't kept up with JD's newer designs to see what the current comparison is.
