You may be correct, but a 12 point 1.25 " socket fits like a glove. Its not just a sloppy fit, which is what you would expect if they are metric. 1.25" would be 31.75 mm so if they are 32 mm it would be a bit to small. 31 mm would be 1.22" which is lots of slop for a 1.25" socket, 15 mils on either side of the socket.
The NH tech I talked to who worked on the machine out at my place, appeared to also be under the impression it was a mixture.
I understand what you mean about the numbers. Metric bolts have a number like 8.8 on the head. That number plus the diameter and you can figure out the torque spec.
Of course, at least on my tractor, you need to scrap the paint off first.
