Just curious, did you replace the complete trans or just the case. Nice work! I always love a challenge. Whene ever I do a project like this I threaten to video the dissambly so I can go back and see how I took it apart, but I never have.

ITS ALIVE !!!!! I burnt the midnight oil and got the beast back together. It was operator error on why it would not start. Since I am new to blue I did not know about it having to be in N to start. After reading jinmans post I messed with the levers and she fired right up. Seems to blow a bit more blue smoke that I expected but I will tackle that one after I take care of all the little stuff. Most important is that is starts and runs, moves forward and backward, PTO spins, and the 3 pt lifts and lowers. I still need to build a diff lock lever since the origional was missing along with several small parts but that is half the fun. At least I will sleep tonight knowing that I didn't waste a lot of time and $$$ for nothing. I will get some new pics and tally up the project. Thanks for all the help and I will keep everyone updated and I am sure I will have some more Q's.

WOOHOO!:)

It'll be nice to hear how you like it once you actually put it to work. If you are like me, I catch myself thinking of how the innards of the tractor are working as I operate. It's a "sickness" I can't get over, but it also gives me a 6th sense when I hear something out of the ordinary.:eek:

My kinda guy!

Congratulations on getting it working again, Jim. Don't forget to disable that
range shift neutral interlock switch....

Skinr, If I ever need to do a major rebuild on my TC45DA I would love to have the confidnece that you had to go ahead and tackle the job. Could you tell us what background you have that gave you that confidence. I am thinking that I could probably tackle most anything, if I had a garage to work in, the right tools, and some help from someone with experience if I get stuck. Care to share where one finds good used parts and what your out-of-pocket costs were for this rebuild? Anyway, congratulations! It must feel very good to have restored this tractor, that could have ended up as parts, to good working condition.

A bit late -- but if you haven't bought the manual yet, I believe they are available in CD version for much less.

OK so the final results are in. I spent $3200 to get this machine back up and running. Keep in mind that this project was started by someone other than myself so many of the parts and pieces including all the nuts and bolts were missing. The case was purchased used for $1300 from Farmland Tractor out of Tangent Oregon. They had a few TC that they were parting out so it worked well to get some of the major components that I was missing. If a guy is doing this repair on a complete tractor then I would figure it to be about $1500 if you can find a good used case and some gaskets, fluid and filters. I unfortunately had to buy some guts to the 3 pt. lift, all the nuts and bolts, alternator and battery. So overall the whole project brakes down like this. Tractor, loader, backhoe $5000 + Repairs $3200 = $8200
I think I made out ok on this one and I have a decent working knowledge of guts of my tractor. I am sure I will still need help finguing things out from time to time. Here a a few pics of the finished project. If someone needs specific pics of the teardown or rebuild let me know because I have over 100 that were taken throughout the process. Now I need a matched set of tires. Anyone???

Looks great. (Sorry I called you "Jim"...I was on the phone and don't multi-
task well.)

Anyway, I am curious about the 3-pt cyl housing. Was the tractor's hyd
system relief valve on it and obvious? I just found out that my Korean
tractors don't seem to have an accessible system RV. That has never
been the case with any other tractors I have worked on. I hear that is
also true for some Chinese tractors.

Hey skinnr, that old differential case sure looks better sitting on your garage floor than it did installed in the tractor.;):D

Dave, the system relief valve is inside the hydraulic diverter valve under the right side operator's platform. It's right out in the open and very easy to access if needed.
