New Holland TC18
Well, here I am again with more questions /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am in the process of buying a new TC18 from the North Carolina dealer we all know and love. I followed up on some advice from another thread and asked for pricing on a FEL. The dealer said they could provide a Bush Hog 1846 FEL for a little over $2500. I've looked at the specs on this FEL, and they look respectible.

If I'm going to buy a FEL, I need one that can detach fairly easy. Some of the NH loaders I've looked at don't have a detached stand. At least the Bush Hog has that. The problem I see is that the Bush Hog loader doesn't appear to have a subframe. I've heard horror stories of FEL's that attach to some of the tractor casings and how they can break a tractor in two.

Here are my questions 1) is it worth buying a FEL with the tractor? 2) is the Bush Hog loader a good option? 3) should I hold out for a NH loader?

Thanks for all the good input, and Happy New Year!

Here are a couple of threads on purchasing a FEL that is not manufactured by the tractor manufacture.

I believe that a compact tractor FEL's should be purchased from the manufacture. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

NH 12LA is the loader for that tractor. It has a stand for detaching.

Yikes! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Those threads are a horror story.

Thank you very much. No way I'll go with the Bush Hog loader. I thought it strange they recommended the same FEL for the TC18 that was offered on the TC30.

Or the 7106 depending on how old your tractor is. 2003? & newer get the 12LA. The 2002 & older get the 7106... Have your dealer run the serial number to be sure.

I just got back with the dealer. They said the NH loader that fits the tractor (12LA is the only model they mentioned) has been very difficult to stock for the last six months.

I decided to go ahead with the tractor purchase and forget the FEL right now. I hate to do that, but I don't want to buy a problem. Turns out the Bush Hog loader does not have subframe.

I think Mosey purchased the Bushhog and was very dissappointed with it. My personal opinion is to stick with the loader the manufacture recomends or makes.

But that is just me, if there is any problems there is only one person to blame instead of New Holland saying it is Bushhogs fault and Bushhog saying it is New Holland's fault.

The 12LA was ordered from the plant in PA for my TC18, arrived in a week or so.

edited to add......

I can have it off in less than 3 mins and back on in less than 5. Yes the cost was more than the Bush Hog, but it fits better and it's BLUE

I can't speak for the newer ones but my 7106 has been ROCK SOLID. And I might add that my TC-18 has been the most reliable investment I've ever made. 350 hrs. ....time will fly when you're hav'n fun !

The links to my threads about the bush hog loader I bought should make it pretty clear that you should get the New Holland brand loader. What I ran into was that New Holland passed the blame on to bush hog and bush hog passed the blame on to New Holland, but it was New Holland that finally made a deal with me in the end (although I still got ripped off, at least I was able to get rid of the bush hog loader and get the correct loader put on by working out a deal with my New Holland dealer, but I got no help at all from bush hog). Off brand loaders are a "one size fits all" type loader and the New Holland loaders are made to fit the tractor. I recommend getting the loader with the tractor, since it will cost a lot more to add it later.
