I have one acre to mow. Will the TC18 with a 60" mower make a good mower. How is the manueverability? Does it make sense to own one for just mowing?

makes perfect sense if that is what you want! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The TC 18 will do the job but you might want to consider the BX 1800 or 2200 from Kubota.

Why? I am curious as to what the Kubota's have that the NH doesn't? I am thinking about a TC18 or 21 for mowing as well but wonder if you have insight as to a problem with them for mowing or why the Kubota is better suited for mowing. Thanks.

Size...the BX tractors would be well suited for cutting 1 acre.
As small as the TC18 is, the BX is smaller.

I have a TC18, good machine. I use the side discharge 60" MMM and it does a good job. No problems and nearly 400 hours. I had my dealer do the 300 hr service with free pickup and delivery. I went with the side discharge so I could use the Trac-Vac lawn vacuum.

Would the BX be equal in size to a garden tractor then. It is hard to imagine something smaller then a TC 18. I am trying to decide if a TC 18 or 21 is better for what I am thinking or to just go a different route and buy a zero turn. The machine will be used only for mowing and with the TC I can use a carrier to carry extra fuel and a push mower to our other apartments around town. I am sorry for jumping on this thread but since it is the same thing I am going thru it intrigued me. I have around 1.25 acres of yard in town to mow and 3 acres here that is yard. The only other thing I would probally do is add a snow blower for keeping the driveway's clear at the apartments.

It sounds like what you need is a zero turn mower, not a tractor. I'm no expert in those kinds of mowers, but my neighbor has a Grasshopper he uses for doing commercial lawn mowing. He has the vacuum system on it, and during the winter I've seen him with a snowblower, a broom, and a blade - uh - at different times of course! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif He hauls the whole rig on a 12' landscape trailer. That's the kind of outfit it sounds like you need.

I was thinking the same thing but am trying to get both the pros and cons of both setups. Thanks.

Just my two cents, but I've got a TC21D, and it couldn't be better to mow my 3 acres. The only things to think about are overhead clearance (Trees, and such), and how much stuff you need to mow around. I have a MMM, and I can get pretty close to everything with it. I do have some smaller trees on the property , that I most trim under. I couldn't get under them right with my Wheelhorse either. As far as the BX goes, that may be an option to think about. They are a bit smaller, and may make it easier to use in your yard. My problem with the zero turn mowers, is all you have there is a mower. That's fine if all you want to do is mow grass, but I found all kind of uses for my Compact. And the FEL is a back saver. Good Luck. Kent
