OK, sorry I didn't get these posted last night, but was involved in a minor fender-bender last evening and it is amazing how much time those things can eat up. 2 things I'm glad of - no one was hurt /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif and it wasn't my fault. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

But here is a pic of my seat mount. As you can see, I don't have the bar running across like Mega_Me's does. I have little disk type spacers there in place of the flat bar. If you look real close in front of those disks you can see where the metal has crack and so has the paint and there is a little bit of rust there.

A view of the mounting with the seat in the raised position. One thing I notice, my tractor must be a little bit older (2003) than Mega_Me's. It looks like NH tried to address the problem, but ended up creating more damage my using the bar going out to the fender.

Thanks for posting the pics... that really helps explain the problem.

I think the best thing for you to do is to take off the seat, take off the metal plate the seat is bolted to, and add some steel (angle iron or bar will do) across the bottom and top bolts.

You can get as fancy as you want, but I'll bet that you'll solve the problem easily with a couple of pieces of angle iron, some longer bolts and big washers.

I'd also squeeze some clear silicon in there to seal things up once you've cleaned off all the rust and repainted, or use some rubber as a gasket between the various metal parts, because you're always going to get movement between the metal parts unless you weld it together really well instead of using nuts&bolts. Movement will scrape the paint off and you'll get more rust.

Do you park indoors or out? Parking indoors will add a lot of time to the life to your tractor.

Parking - it has been in my uncompleted garage. It has had a roof over it almost its whole life, but no floor. Coming soon. You can see the progress in my Pole Barn project post.

Okay, here's the repair pictures.....and Jim I got the net-working!

Pic# 1 is facing toward the rear at the left side. The only thing you can see is a small bead of weld near the top across the blue part. Yes it's dirty...used to get driveway back in line after downpour.

Pic #2, the opposite side (facing the front). You can see the vertical support near the diff lock.

#3, facing the parking brake handle. A couple of things here....the dealer was not able to put the rubber grommet that goes around the rod for the parking brake because the grove on the grommet was not wide enough to fit the thicker metal....oh well. Also you notice a small bead of weld again near the top.
